Primaselect PVA+ nearly impossible to load/unload

I am struggling for a while to make soluble interface a viable solution with MMU2S.

The first is a temp related bug due to changing filament temp tha if not tune accurately causes a lot of strong with mmu2s hanging every now and then.

I solved with a well know process script that manages the temp in a far better way.

Now I get into troubles with PVA+ settings that does not permit me to aviod strings during filament switch.

I have tried many filament configs ( unload speed, cooling moves, ramming customization and nozzle temp ) based on the experience I got on PLA+ without any major improvement.

Now I sliding down the temp  and I am getting stronger filaments (see the photo for 187°) but the problem is still there.

Since I am wondering of to start some fuzzy tests, I would ask if anyone has been able to manage PVA+ well with PLA+.

Which filament settings are you using?

The most important thing for working with PVA is that it has to be dry. Active dry it before the print and print it directly out of a dry box if possible.

More ramming time and a rising speed curve might help.

I found out that the main problem is temperature and the wrong way prusaslicer manages it during filament switching. 

I had the luck to open a discussion in this forum and talk with antimix finding out a logic that has been implemented in his own branch (Dribbling) of prusa slicer that uou can find on the link below:

With prusaslicer dribbling edition you can have a better control on wiping tower and you can seta many different temp (min, max, printing temp (first and other layers) and wiping tower temp) in such a way you will get perfect filament tip, perfect printing and you can mix many different materials (e.g. pla, pva but even mix with petg and abs).

I racommend to use pve for interfaces only since it is really sticky and expensive.

I hope this will end your printing problem and I hope that sooner or later prusa will add thos feature on the main branch.

A month ago, I had pointed out here some "strange" temperature steps when MMU2 change filaments but I wasn't aware of this branch.This looks promising and I will give it a try.

Thanks I will try this alternate Slicer ..... Can you please be more specific about temperatures as you stated these were the major issue. What temperatures do you use ? Whats wrong with PrusaSlicer temperastures (too high / too low or anything else ) . Would appreciate any help. Also found that the PVA gets wrapped around the feed wheel in the extruder , so I think it must be soft at this point when it passes it and still sticky.

Temperature just a matter of temperature.

The main problem with prusaslicer is that you can set just a single temp for all tasks and often a good temp for printing is not the good one for having a good tip during the filament change. Having a good tip is the main need to avoid blocking the mmu2s.

In addition to this if you want to use different materials or sometimes even colors you could need different printing and tip temps from filament to filament so if you can set max and min operating temps for each filament the slicer can prevent over and under heating during the filament switch ( take into consideration that during wiping you have both filaments in the extruder).

PrusaSlicer Dribbling can manage all of this, the next thing after installing is to define all the profiles for each filament you are going to use. Once you do it everything will run smoother.

Appreciate the help and guidance. Just wish I knew how to compile programs. Still working through trying to get the CMakelist to show no errors to install the dependencies, never mind compiling the code itself.

If you have problems in compiling it you can ask to @antimix directly. He is a prusa forum user too.

For temps the only way is to start simple and then tune from time to time till the good settings.

for example with Sunlu PLA+ filaments I found two working setting tha I have to select depending on the filament color.

I am sorry to tell that I have found a bug in latest version of dribbling prusa slicer.

During filament switching and dribbling enabled when mmu2s loads the new filament a 230° C temp is set even of it is not set anywhere in any filament config. 

The warm up procedure to 230° is very slow  and it does not even get to it (it gives and error after some minutes). On the contrary if I manually set a high nozzle temp it goes to the set temp in small amount of time, so I would exclude any hw problem.

Both Pruse m3ks and mmu2s have latest firmware and i am using dribbling 2.2.0 Vc01
