MMU2S fails to go into bootup sequence after error

I had an error that resulted from the IR detector getting unplugged when the wires made contact with the frame.  I have corrected that and want to begin a new print but my MMU2S won't do the startup sequence of homing the idler and selectors.  I had previously had this issue resulting from a bad connection to the IR detector and left the power off for a day or so before it began doing the startup sequence again.  I have tried to reflash the MMU2S (isn't easy since unplugging the micro-USB broke the connection points and now I have to physically hold it onto it's contacts during flashing), soft reset, factory reset, and more to try to get it out of this state.

Any idea of how to re-establish the bootup sequence and get this MMU2S going again? It won't operate any of the MMU2S motors until something is performed it would seem.

I was able to get printing again after some Konami code of factory resets for MMU and i3 as well as screw adjustments. I believe there is some internal state on the i3 or MMU that is not being visibly reflected but is producing this error.  After the MMU fails to unload after a print, it goes into this state again and the fight is on to produce the correct procedure to get the system functional again. I'm still trying to figure out what exactly the correct produce is.  I'm looking forward to the developer program where I may get some better insight into this.

I have figured out that if I unplug the MMU power or signal cable with the printer powered up and subsequently plug it back in that it will initiate its homing sequence and I can use the buttons on it to select the filament and load the filament. The MK3S does not appear to be able to send the right commands to the MMU.
