MMU2 With new Firmware Issues

The rewrite of the code for MMU2 and its install and use has made me very unhappy. The startup lights and actions have changed completely. How do we know what the correct sequence of events and lights is now. Prusa should have put out a video helping us to understand this. I now have a MMU that was working flawlessly before to now showing odd idler errors and will not unload the filament properly. I have tried the adjustment for the idler and it appear to be working sort of. Cannot fix the unload problem with the filament stuck at the head end. Also now we dont have the load light when a filament is loaded. The most useful indicator we had.

The graunching motors 3 times on startup is unnerving. Contacted the support and they didnt help Just said any errors will now show on LCD. Not helpful at all when visual indicators have been regressed..

I have gotten so fed up with this update I have gone back to 3.12.2 (1.0.6) . Prusa you need to wake up to the complete mess youve made of this upgrade

same. reverted to 3.12.2 and 1.0.6 for the mmu2.

also i reverted to Slicer 2.6.1, 2.7.X does not work properly!

i made the mistake of updating everything when my XL machine came in. the XL is a Brick as well, now i have to wait until prusa figured it out so i can actually use it.

Same here folks,

I noticed the new firmware is labeled MMU3 for my mmu2s. I can't get it to work at all,  my MMU2S was rendered useless.  Those thinking of "upgrading" to it, please wait until these issues get sorted.

Update. I wrote to Joseph Prusa as I was so unhappy. Obviously, he is too high and mighty now to respond to a mere customer so he got a minion to do it. They were very cagey about this whole issue. I was sent info on the MM3 upgrade that says the lights should be green when the filament is loaded. She also stated the startup was more aggressive than before. I could NOT get Prusa to share a video of what a good startup should look like. They will not share this information and I think this is disgusting. I asked 3 times with zero acknowledgement. As my startup noises changed on restarts I was never sure what was correct. It was intimated that other users had complained and that if I wanted it to work as I like I should stay on the down level code. Unbelievable. No responsibility taken for the issues and problems they have caused. This is not the Prusa I was dealing with when I first purchased my printer.

RE: MMU2 With new Firmware Issues

Prusa will never officially respond to anything on the forums, this changed back in 2015ish.

there was a big issue (still is) with the MK3 machines where they finally did have to acknowledge as issue a member found with the MK3 firmware in regards to the formula used to determine the thermal offset for the LIVE Z.

but really there was a complete change in prusa when the the MK3 was released. before that during the MK2 days they would come on the forums.

i guess there was too much criticism and off they went. now since that time prusa has been changing from an open source community company into another locked up proprietary 3d company. yes at the moment if your inclined you can down load the source code and play around with it. but to the average customer the quality of product was basically collapsed. there are the fans on reddit where you can't say anything.

in years past i would recommend prusa because as an all in one package it worked really well for a beginner in 3d printing.

now i would not recommend a prusa as there are a few better packages from newer 3d companies.

there has always been this community where you could find help where prusa would not do anything for you.

i got burned on the MK3 originally and have been through most of the MMU revisions, i was hoping with covid they would have reset themselves but they got

even worse.

at this point if you want your machines back to working revert everything.

revert to 3.12.2 and 1.0.6 for the mmu2.

I would recommend using slicer 2.6 for anything before the MK4 and XL. if you have the MK4 and XL then use slicer 2.7.

I'm not going to even bother with the MMU3, i bought the XL and have issues i'm hoping later firmware releases will fix the multi tool XL machines, some features are horribly broken at the moment.

I was going to buy a MK4 however after seeing things from 2019 till now and my recent purchase of the XL i will not be buying future prusa products unless something really changes in the company.

its sad because my MK2S machine works better then any prusa that came after it. i kept hoping but its been so disappointing and frustrating.
