MMU2 flash is picking wrong COM port

I just built my MMU2 kit and was trying to flash the latest firmware on the MMU. I have only the MMU2 micro usb plugged in. In device manager hidden items mode, I see 3 COM ports. the one plugged in to the MMU is active on COM 4. The not plugged in printer is on COM 3, which shows inactive, as it should. There is another MMU COM port on COM 5 that says bootloader. It is inactive. When I try to flash the MMU firmware it fails and the error message says that it can't find COM 5. The flash window says the port is autoselected and the port select button disappears, so I can't select COM 4.

How do I fix this?

I am also experiencing to same problem.  Upon opening the flasher dialog box, I can see that it can see the correct port (COM3) but after I select the firmware to upgrade, the flasher goes into port autodetect mode and selects a different port (COM4 as found in the log file).  Once the flasher is in port autodetect mode, there is no way to select another port.  No other devices are attached to my laptop during attempted firmware flashing.  Problem with the flashing software?

Solved the problem by leaving both the USB cable to the einsy board and the USB cable to the MMU2S connected (e.g., both are connected to your computer).  Should see two different COM ports being used in Device Manager (on my laptop COM7 (einsy board) and COM3 (MMU2S board)).  Flasher software still goes into autodetect mode when selecting the firmware update file but it seems to sort everything out in the end.

RE: MMU2 flash is picking wrong COM port

I just wanted to add that I had the same issue and I was finally able to flash my MMU by turning my printer off and hitting the "Flash" button almost immediately after turning the printer back on.  It seems the MMU would briefly be autodetected during the bootup process and hitting the flash button during that time allowed me to finally get it to work.

I hope this helps someone out.
