MMU2 evolution?
Why did Prusa abandon the MMU2?
The hardware has a lot of potential, but the firmware spoils it.
The error messages are not helpful.
There is not enough control to fix a situation when needed.
And there are at least a few apparent bugs (like reloading filament to the nozzle when the nozzle is already cooling down).
Why?
I am very frustrated.
No
Why did Prusa abandon the MMU2?
No. There are quite a few folks that have gotten it to work.

Doubt it's abandoned, but...
I highly doubt that Prusa has abandoned the MMU2S, but... I haven't heard any news about it nor seen any worthwhile firmware patches in quite a while, which does lead me to doubt.
I use mine daily, and it's a wonderful tool. It's already paid for itself twice over, but I still get a lot of stress with it. I'd be interested to know if Prusa are working on an MMU3 - and if we MMU2S owners can expect a discount because of all the work we've had to put into it.
Two and a half years has passed...
To my knowledge, the most resent major update is the new extruder update that came with the MK3S, that's over two and a half years ago. Cut feature came with 3.9.0 firmware update one and a half year ago. Mini does not supported MMU2 though it being a 32 bit platform. I know nothing about the coding but if it's because the communication between 32bit and 8dit platform, then the MK4 will also not get supported; if it's not, then why?
I'm not blaming Prusa team, they've already done a great job. But the reason why people choose Prusa over other brands is because of the reliability and the ongoing developing, also because of the almost guaranteed long-term support. So only two updates in two and a half years is pretty disappointing, considering it cost 300 USD.
It's still good, don't get me wrong, and I still love it, but it deserved to be better.
They are probably still there
