MK3s Extruder and MMU2s don't stop loading filament
Hey y'all,
I'm having an issue with the filament loading process which has been difficult to understand. Earlier today the printer was working fine but I had a filament jam and the printer needed to get restarted. Since then the MMU2s and the MK3s won't recognize when a filament has reached the hot end and continue to rotate. The force is of the extruder and MMU2s results in grinding noises and thick output. So far for both I've: reset factory settings and flashed the firmware to 3.8.0 (which I already had).
When I've attempted to complete the setup wizard, following a reset, the same loading issue happens as the printer prepares for first layer leveling. Also I've turned the filament sensor on and off and used the secret menu to set the filament length. Still no luck.
Any suggestions?

the issue you are describing might be caused by two things:
First of all, check that you are having the correct MMU2s and MK3s (for the MMU) installed. I didn't and exactly experienced your effects. The driver is further down the page and has the exact same version number (my link was a second ago https://cdn.prusa3d.com/downloads/firmware/prusa3d_fw_3_8_0_MK3S_1_0_6_MMU2S.zip#_ga=2.144385212.842197221.1568490780-629852881.1565554617). Do not install the one on the top of the page.
Check that and come back.

Thanks for the information. I thought it had been the firmware just as you stated however I must have flashed it 3x without fixing the problem. One thing I had done just prior to the issue was printed a modified Bondtech door. It was after the piece was installed that I started having problems. Because the part worked fine I did not suspect it to be an issue however after I check the IR sensor in "support" it wasn't picking up the new part at all. When I swapped the old part back in I didn't have any issues. With further testing I found it wasn't the part at all but the filament. ( I had printed the part using clear/colorless and the IR sensor wasn't picking it up) I've reprinted the modified part in black and it is working fine.

Hi there,
you need to make sure the lever of the extruder door triggers the sensor perfectly fine (rudimentary triggering). See the menu, better yet, solder an LED onto the sensor. If it does trigger start adjusting the sensor. AND make sure you flashed the right firmware, sorry, but it doesn't just happen rarely.

Thank you....the comment "it doesn't happen rarely", means that this is a common issue? "See the menu"...can you elaborate on that? "Solder an LED onto the Sensor"...do you have a pic of what that looks like? The latest firmware for my device is flashed. "The Lever of the extruder door"...is that the long piece that slots into the chimney that pops in and out when the filament slides through? Thank you in advance for your reply.

it happened in the past, even to me, but that isn't the reason I am telling you that. There were quite a lot of people flashing the non MMU firmware on the MMU equipped printer. Looks as if it was working, but loading issues are common. I thought I heard it was blocked by PrusaSlicer, but I might be wrong.
For the LED see my past posts or any other. There are many around. I based my solution on a Thingiverse post. You can check the sensor reading in the settings tab on your printer. It gives you a reading. If you unscrew the idler door an move it back and forth it should give you either 1 or 0. An yes, it is that long piece that slots into the chimney where the sensor is located. It is a simple IR switch, you can figure that out. Should be no big deal.
If that is all alright, it is about fine adjustment of the sensor, but that is the next step...
