Having trouble flashing firmware MK3S to MK3S/MMU2.0

I built a MK3S this week and printed a few objects to make sure it was ok. Then I assembled the MMU2.0S kit and added it on. I'm down to the point where I need to flash the firmware on the printer to the MK3S/MMU version but the operation keeps failing with an error that the board did not respond in time. I did try a different USB cable and I pulled the three fuses on the Einsy as directed in the troubleshooting section and checked them with an ohmmeter to verify they were good. I used this same laptop to flash my other MK3 (plain MK3, not an S) a few months ago BUT this is the first time I've tried to flash using PrusaSlicer instead of Slic3rPE. I did try running PrusaSlicer as an admin, still failed. I am able to connect with the printer over Pronterface so I assume the port is fine? I tried various plugging and unplugging of the USB cable, different USB ports on the laptop and restarting the laptop and the printer to no avail. I was going to try flashing through Slic3rPE but it appears that program was removed when I installed PrusaSlicer? At least the shortcut on my desktop is gone. I ran out of time to try anything else before I had to leave. I'm going to move the printer close to my PC so I can try a different computer but I thought I would put it on here today to see if anyone else has an idea?

TIA,

Stephen

I had a similar problem once.  I know you tried it.  Mine worked after turning it off and on again.

After trying my other Win10 PC and still having no luck I contacted Prusa's chat. Shane had me power off the printer, unplug the communication cable from the Einsy to the MMU, and power the printer back up before flashing again. This time, the flash succeeded straight away. I powered the printer off and reconnected the communication wire. Powered it back up but the MMU2 still showed as "N/A" instead of "connected" in the support menu. Shane's shift was ending so he passed me over to Tristan who had me reflash the MMU board. It succeeded on the first try but still no joy. Tristan asked if I could unplug the communication cable on both ends and check it for continuity. When I did, I found the white wire was open. I de-pinned it and we found the culprit. It's a little hard to see in the pic, but the insulation was grabbed in both crimps when it should be insulation in one and the conductor in the other. They're sending out a new cable.

Wow, talk about a tough find!  Good job on locating it.

New cable arrived today! I had already made a quick and dirty repair by burning the insulation out with a soldering iron and flowing a little solder back in to make the connection so I could try the MMU out over the weekend because I really wanted to see it work. I ran the lizard test print after re-running the live-z cal, I think it did ok? The .2 layer height leaves it rough. Made all the filament changes with no user interaction.
