double extruder recommendations
Hi, I could recommend which printer I can buy to also buy double extruder updates (MMU 2.0). I have read that I must get the full update MK2.5, but in the sales tab only "Original Prusa i3 MK2S kit" and "Original Prusa i3 MK2S 3D printer" appears, then I would like to buy an MK2S but I do not understand the difference between these two and more importantly I would like to buy the one that best fits into the new MMU 2.0 update. The Prusa i3 MK2S will not work with the MMU2 multi extruder unless the MK2S printer has had a "MK2.5" upgrade kit applied to it beforehand.
If you have not got a printer yet - you're better off getting the MK3 first, and ordering an MMU2 later.
Price of MK2S kit = GBP 569........MK2S to MK2.5 upgrade = GBP 133.55.......Total = GBP 702.55
Price of MK3 kit = GBP 699
Price of the MMU2 upgrade for either MK2.5 or MK3 = 254.04
The MK3 is argueably a better machine than the MK2S + upgrades. MK3 is a 24v system, has all the "smarts" and a better chassis than the MK2.
I personally would watch and wait how real world users find their MMU2 units perform before shelling out on one. Not only that, if you order an MMU2 now, I wouldn't expect to take delivery until around Christmas time, knowing how long it took to get my MK3 when I ordered in Dec last year!
