Available supply current for additional electronics

Hi there

I am working on a break to avoid the filament to be pushed out of the buffer, what sometimes happens and results in a confused filament close to the spools. I would like to add a solenoid drawing about 300mA and I want to supply the electronics and solenoid from the MMU2 connector P6 Shift Out. Is there appr. 500mA available and allowed?

Regards, Harald

For how long and how often do you anticipate actuation?

Do you need 500ma or could you trickle-charge a capacitor?

I need the current for the time the filament is pushed back to unload. Appr. 20sec maybe less. ( I need to check ) during this time I would like to activate the solenoid to prevent the filament from beeing pushed out of the buffer, which now often happens. How often? Hm. Depends on the part to 3D print. The rest of the time I think 100mA is more than needed. If there is the fear for interfering with the functionality of the MMU2 hardware I think about using a extra power supply and optical isolation. This might need 3 times 10mA.

Maybe I also can use another output of the MK3S+ power supply. I think there is also 24V / 10A from the main supply unit.

Thanks for fast response, Harald
