Z-axis engines hot without doing anything
Hello everyone,
I notice that the motors of the Z axis are hot, without printing anything. I start the impprimante, and a few minutes later these are slightly hot, and fixed (I can not turn them by hand).
Is this normal? are they all that?
Sincerely.
RE: Z-axis engines hot without doing anything
Yes -steppers use a holding current to maintain position. If you turn a motor while it is in holding, the computer loses its position in free space and will corrupt printing (aka a shift). Same as when printing the nozzle hits something and stalls a motor, the computer no longer knows the true position of the nozzle. Home - done before every print - allows the printer to relearn the nozzle position.

Nickel thanks for these explanations, techniques.
Everything seems coherent and logical.
Thanks again. good to you.
