Use purge Block to adjust Purging volumes

Hi all,
I was wondering if there was a way to figure out what purging volumes could be adjusted in Slic3r PE by using the Purge Block as a basis for this.
I would prefer to use a reliable method to figure this out rather than simply tweak the settings and hope they work. Maybe someone could make a gcode file that allows you to figure this out.
I was more on the idea that you could take your purge block and measure the transition to get the volume actually needed.
Any thoughts?
