Here is my approach to filament holder and buffer ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3876138 ):

I might make the areas a little thinner since you have the rotation to help with loading. Looks like there is enough room in there than the filament wants to try to tangle itself. Maybe taking 1/4 to 1/3 of the width away would clean that up.

Nice solution though, I like it a lot.

Hi,

you are right, I was considering making it thinner or even combining the slider and divider parts into one, however this is the 4th main iteration and it just works. Also making it thinner would make the sliders on the sides in quite high angle with the spools (on the picture above you only see 3 spools but of course you can use 5, where the 2 are places on the tube behind the aluminum extrusion).

I have tested 150+ hours of wood filaments and other “stone like filaments” with rough surfaces (which are the most bridle and with most friction in PTFE tubes) together with other common filaments and had no issues, no tangle to itself. Also due to shortened PTFE and smoother filament pull in general it worked so much better than with the original buffer and filament stands, especially with wood filaments which were often grinded in MMU units resulting in paused or failed print with original buffer.

However, if someone would like to improve my design, I am more than happy to provide you with the original cad project (it is designed in OnShape), just send me PM.
