PVB as soluble support

hi i print minis and was thinking of getting an MMU for soluble supports, but BVOH seems expensive and i have high levels of humidity so it would be a pain if my filament dissolved on my shelf between prints, which got me thinking, could i use PVB as support material?

if so how would it impact print quality and how much does the waste product kill mother nature?

edit. i am aware that PVB also needs a drybox, but since it doesn't litterally disolve from water i'm guessing it is less of an issue for PVB

bvoh works fine.  wouldn't the amount of IPA required to desolve supports on a reasonably sized print be expensive too?  I've not used PVB so I don't know how quickly it dissolves in IPA, but since IPA tends to evaporate wouldn't you have to put the part in a sealed container with the IPA in order to have it dissolve?

Oh, and IPA is flammable....  especially 99% lol

My big grievance for solubles at the moment is that the wipe tower tends to not do well with solubles.  I did find a kludge that works though.  You can get a spool of BVOH from Prusa shop for less than 100 shipped to the us, including shipping.

as far as I understand it HIPS is primarily for ABS

There you go.  Sounds like hips is the way to go.  I've only done about two prints with ABS, none with ASA, I do have some hatchbox lime green ABS I wanted to print my next prusa printer's parts in lol
