Prusa Slicer 2.0 color change bug?

The Prusa Slicer 2 has incorporated color change function.

You can click on a "+" sign next to the vertical layer indicator to add a gcode for color change at that layer. (Work in MMU single mode only).

The printing did pause and ask for filament change. But it didn't ask which "extruder" to change next. It just unloaded and loaded from the same extruder, thus no actual color change.

Did I expect wrongly? Or did I miss something?

That is how the ColorChange function has always worked.

It really is designed for printers without MMU.

from the MMU2S manual:

10.1 Colorprint
The web version of Colorprint tool is compatible with the MMU2S Single Mode.
1. Import an object into Slic3r and choose ‘Original Prusa i3 MK3/MK2.5 MMU2S
Single’ in the ‘Printer’ menu on the right side of the window.
2. Slice an object and export the resulting G-code from Slic3r as usual.
3. Upload the G-code to the ColorPrint webapp.
https://www.prusaprinters.org/color-print/
4. Click the Add color change button.
5. Set the layer height at which the color change
should happen.
6.
7. Continue adding as many color changes as you like.
8. Download the G-code, upload it to SD card and you’re ready to print.
9.
10. During the print, the printer will automatically pause the print and prompt you to
change/select the filament.

I see.

Isn't it a pity. The hardware is there.

Yes, one can select MMU instead of MMU single to do simple layer color change. But MMU needs purging block which is a waste of material and time.

Man, I was searching an hour for the missing + Symbol in my MMU Settings.

That's actually such a big missing feature I didn't realize the possibility of it being the case.

Thanks a lot for clearing that up for me.

edit: just realized you can use a modifier to get the MMU color change, but it's unnecessary fiddly and "hidden" when expecting the + to be there.

True. The current workaround is to create a modifier and assign a tool to it.

RE: Prusa Slicer 2.0 color change bug?

I was messing with this last week trying to get a color change to happen on a non MMU object where I could not split up into smaller objects. I tried to assign a modifier and assigned it to the extruder color that I wanted but did not switch colors. Do you know what I was missing when setting it up?
