MMU2S selector init noise

Hello

A couple of questions.
When you turn on the printer and first time the selector moves it makes this "init" move or what it is, probably to find the end points.
It first moves to the right, then bangs in to the side a couple of times then it moves back to left side and then it is done and ready to move around.

This has been the normal procedure ever since i assembled it.
Recently mmu have gotten very odd and keeps reseting and then after a few retries of init moves all leds flash and i have to reset it to try again.
Every single filament change needed probably 15-20 resets and most of the time it would never move the selector at all, just begin to move it then reset and restart.

This got very tiresome, so i decided to use some prusa lube on the smooth rods and the stepper motor screw for the selector.

This completely changed the noises the selector now makes when it does its normal startup move, it moves to the right side, bangs in it once or twice then it continuously tries to move against the side for a while making a lot of noise that never happen before, but it does complete the startup and is able to work normally.
And a test print seems to work without selector getting stuck in a never ending reset loop.

So my question is, is it normal that selector not just bangs against the right side a couple of times but instead keeps moving against the side for probably 10-15 seconds before moving to left side?
Only thing that was changed was adding lube.

I should also add that i have had *a lot* of odd problems and i'm not sure what it is exactly but i'm beginning to suspect psu issues.

It should bang against the right side couple of times then immediately move over to the left side. I would make sure all your cables for your MMU2 don't have any loose connections on the control board, especially the power lines for the position selector stepper motor. I would tighten those screws and reseat all the connectors.

Already checked the cables both in the MMU and power and signal cable to it in the controller box.
Multiple times.

I have taken out all power cables coming from PSU to main controller board, and reconnected them, i have double and triple checked that they are not loose, especially the power going to the mmu since you connect them in parallell.

Also most of the time when mmu selects a different filament it fails completely to move either the mmu idler or the selector then resets in the middle of the move.
After you have done that around 15-20 times per filament change it stops being fun... (i have spent hours)

@torbjorn-j3

Before contacting support, I would double check that you have the stepper motors plugged into the right connectors on the MMU2 controller board.

If they are correct, I would contact support via chat to get help.

They have not been moved between when it was working and when it is broken so they are correct, all i have done is to make sure they are plugged in properly.
If they were not in the correct places it would not have worked a for a few filament changes (sometimes) plus in rare cases it does initialize properly.

Did you try reloading the firmware?  For some strange reason, recently I had issues with the MMU initialization after I cancelled a print.  For me, the only solution was to reload the firmware and everything was fine after that.
