24 hours is like that 1000 tool changes.. kids play 😀
It's a (big) kids toy, so why don't play? 😀

I have to slow down on the big tools change prints.. taking the fun out of playing around. I think 3200ish was my cap.
give me another week I might just have to go for 3700 😀
I have a Prusa,therefore I research.
Re: MMU2 - will it ever work reliably ?
The good thing is, once it's dialed in it doesn't matter if you have 1k, 5k or 10k tool changes. It's all about time and plastic consume.
... and just praying the power will stay .... those tiny layer shifts after power outage are visible under certain conditions 😎

If you're reading all the negative posts, try also to read the positive ones. For example:

thank you nikolai for the encouraging post, it's also good to see many successful prints with the MMU. I think though I'll wait for an update to the MMU2.0 before I order in hope that it will have addressed the most pressing issues like they did with the updated MMU1.
Re: MMU2 - will it ever work reliably ?
3200 Tool changes , I settle for 10 , My MK2.5 will not do more than 2 tool changes and crap , those who a MK3 can do 3200 or more .. Or they can use Zerobeast .. But not the MK2.5 , out in the cold ...What's the fix ? Can it be Fixed ?

There is no "fix"TM . You have to watch what is failing and adjust accordingly. Feel free to briefly explain where you're stuck. We might be able to help you. But don't expect wanders. At the end you're the only one who can configure and dial in your machine.

I've been struggling with MK2.5 & MMU2 for weeks now. Can't really say I've had a successful print yet, but I'm getting closer. One thing I will say is that I'm 100% confident the MMU2 is not compatible with the heat break that shipped with my MK2S. There were a few posts relating to this on this board, so I took the plunge and ordered an MK3/MMU heat break from Prusa and it helped massively. Now, my problem is no longer filament tips getting stuck in the PTFE tubing -- instead, it's hairs building up and clogging the system on either side of the orange tube. But at least now I can print for hours on end without problems whereas before replacing the heat break I couldn't get more than a few layers, like Dan.
Why did Prusa say it was compatible with the MK2.5? I really don't know, but I've read on this forum that the newer MK3/MMU heat breaks are used in the current MK2S, so maybe it was an oversight on their part and they forgot to test their earlier build. I received my MK2S in Fall 2017.
Re: MMU2 - will it ever work reliably ?
Well, DHL picked up my MMU 2.0 yesterday for the long trip back to Prague so I could get a refund. I had high hopes for it but it let me down 😥
Re: MMU2 - will it ever work reliably ?
Same kind of s**t here.
Numerous loading issues, some unloading issues, every time ground filament. But still, managed to recover nicely.
I just mentioned to my wife that - even though it seems to have those issues - it always seems to resume nice and prints clean after you resolve the issue.
Of course I had to curse it: Right after it just started printing without filament.
Apparently the filament made it past the MMU filament sensor but never to the extruder (so that sensor wasn't triggered),
but the MMU decided that was good enough and started printing anyway. So another failed print.
This was my first attempt at a 5 filament print after numerous smaller tests with 2 materials.
So it basically needs constant babysitting and I don't know if I'm up for that. I might be one of the few, but my (2nd) MMU1 actually worked flawlessly.
So yeah, chalk another one in the disappointed column.

Yeah, both my MMU1s work perfectly as does my MMU2 now, after a few modifications.
I think that you will soon figure out the problems (all well documented here) and be printing 5 colours perfectly.

Probably, but see, that is where my issue with this entire thing lies:
I (and everyone else) was/were promised a good working - production quality - item when I purchased it Heck, it was delayed several times because they [paraphrasing] "didn't want to ship something not production ready".
If I want to have to mess around with it to work reliably I would've subscribed for the beta testing.
But I do not. I use the printers to print things, not to have to fix them constantly.
It is what it is, and we'll have to deal with it, but all of this (MMU1, MMU2) is severely undermining my trust in Prusa as a brand. I was super enthusiastic when the SL1 was announced and normally I would've preordered it right away, but now I decided to wait until it ships and has proven itself. For me, It will be like that for everything prusa from here on out.

Euh, I'm sorry, are you actually suggesting that you paid €299 assuming you would be used as a beta tester?
The entire premise of buying things instead of developing them yourself is that the testing was done for you and that you will get a working product.
If Prusa works on a different assumption, the shop should mention as such. "please purchase our products at your own discretion as we cannot guarantee they will work out of the box". Come on...

Same old story. Buying first released version of a product is always kind of beta tester. You will find this sentence in every forum for any brand/product. Price doesn't mean anything. First Tesla drivers complained about same thing and they paid more than $299.

Don't have to be first, some people are still complaining 😉
Re: MMU2 - will it ever work reliably ?
Let’s not forget that the MMU 2.0 was delayed for a bit because of beta testing.
I believe Jo said in a video with Tom that they were taking their time with the MMU 2.0 so they wouldn’t release a product that wasn’t ready. I’ll have to go back and verify my source on that.

Sure, there's always companies trying to get away with things like that, doesn't make it right.

Yes, indeed, that's what I was referring to as well, but couldn't find it again. Anyway I stand by what I said. I'll just buy things a year or so later from now on. Really don't have the time or drive to tinker with all this.

Re: MMU2 - will it ever work reliably ?
Hello,
Today I abandoned definitely !!!
During the last month I had a few good experiences where the MMU worked, but then there were more days/prints when the damn thing just failed without any apparent reason. I didn't change anything from the previous prints, after all.
So today I had to print in a hurry a prototype and it failed again. Spend again 2 hours troubleshooting and failed to get it to work.
So I dismounted the thing downgraded the firmware and printed my part......
What a disappointment and waste of money !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a relevant statement for me. I will postpone the investment on the printer until Prusa offer a stable Multi-Material-Unit. Maybe by that time will have the new Mk4 and a mora integrated MMU device.
