MMU2 LEDs flicker

Has anyone seen the LEDs on their MMU2 PCB flicker when 1 LED is lit, one or two partially light up? Is there something wrong with my board or do others do it too? Something odd about the firmware perhaps?

It's running the latest 1.0.5 firmware and 3.7.0 on the MK3S printer.

Re: MMU2 LEDs flicker

I just found out my finda has a wire issue around the leds. been driving me nuts. but path 1,2,3 where bastards while 4 and 5 where the good kids 😀

I have a Prusa,therefore I research.

Same issue as OP. Fast dim flickering of green LEDS when the MMU2s thinks it's loaded. Flickering stops for ~1 sec if I push a button on the MMU2s. I'm also getting what sounds like coil whine from (I presume) the steppers on the MMU2s whenever it's powered.

Good to know it's not just me then. I'm not overly bothered - the MMU2 works (albeit jamming four times in a 650 tool change print job with all 5 filaments on the go). I know I need to figure out a better buffer arrangement for starters. I think it must be a weird glitch in the code which turns the other LEDs on briefly for a few milliseconds, then back off again, depending on what bit of code is in play.

As for motor whine, yes there is that too, but I think that's where the motors are always energised to keep them locked into a fixed position once homed.

RE: MMU2 LEDs flicker

The problem with the flickering of the LEDs and the motor whine is from power problems of the 74hc595 register where the leds and the stepper controller are connected. you need buffer capacitors on the power pins of the registers.
