MMU1-to-2 upgrades delayed AGAIN

I'd like an official Prusa response to this. 😡

The MMU2 upgrades have been delayed yet again, now orders from October 2017 will start shipping on October 23 (assuming no additional delays, which is questionable after so many delays already). It's starting to look a lot like the powder coated sheet situation. Prusa is giving priority to more recent orders (MMUv2 full kits from April 2018 are already shipping), instead of to their loyal customers who have been waiting for longer.

What concerns me even more is the description on the shipping table ( https://help.prusa3d.com/shippingtable ) :
"There is a production delay for which we apologize regarding MK2 MMU to MK2.5/MK3 MMU (MM upgrades of V1 to V2), with different electronics and different voltage (12V vs 24V), there was an additional development and testing needed, shipping is expected to start in the second half of October. Last firmware tweaks are being implemented and final preparations and tests are being run, shipping will commence soon."

Question: Why does the upgrade have different electronics? What exactly are we missing from the full MMUv2?

Question: In terms of 12V vs 24V, what exactly is different about the MMU1-to-2 upgrade compared to the MMUv2 "full" kit in this regard? The MMUv2 already supports 12V and 24V for the MK2.5 and MK3 respectively, does it not? Why are more changes needed? (For the record, I have a MK3, I hope they are not sending me a 12V only version...)

Question: Is the firmware different for the upgrade vs the full kit?

This is what Prusa's blog originally wrote about the upgrades (link: https://www.prusaprinters.org/original-prusa-i3-mk3-3-months/ ):
"All current orders will get a voucher for the difference or partial refund and existing orders of Multi Material upgrade kit – from MK2 to MK2.5/MK3 will receive version 2.0 even that it will be more expensive."

This implies that upgrade orders would receive a "version 2.0", but because of the differences that are mentioned it sounds like what we're getting will be different. Now I'm really concerned that Prusa is going to ship us a "MMUv1.5" which has substantial hardware and firmware differences from the v2. The v2 has enough problems as-is, without us having to deal with additional shortcomings.

Sorry, I created the same basic topic and only just came across yours. https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/general-discussion-announcements-and-releases-f53/highly-upset-over-changes-to-the-mmu2-0-upgrade-t25285.html

Re: MMU1-to-2 upgrades delayed AGAIN

Here are my thoughts on this:
#1 I'm not cancelling my order and not giving Prusa another dime. I get whatever I get at this point when they finally ship it. This is my only real recourse at this point. Otherwise, cancelling the order and placing a new order places you back of the line until next year, even if they offered me a price difference upgrade my order at this point, I'm not willing to give them any more money and wait any longer.
#2 This stems from lack of communications of clear requirements, compatibility, and the extremely long time period (a year). Again, this changed more times than I can count. Both the printer upgrade options and what the MMU2.0 upgrade VS complete kit has never been fully explained.
Entire topic on what is in the upgrade kit and what might be needed or reused from the MMU1.0 here https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/general-discussion-announcements-and-releases-f53/mmu-2-0-upgrade-kit-details-technical-differences-t23412.html I even contacted support on multiple occasions to ensure I was ordering and had all required printer side components and any MMU1.0 components ready for when this finally ships.
#3 The people that went Printer MK2.5 and MMU2.0 are also angry and not yet working right due to firmware and other issues?
#4 the people like us- that seeing the road ahead, went ahead and spent even more money on a MK3 printer or full MK3 upgrade- for all this time and waiting, we get further delays and really have no idea or clear answer what is not included in the kit, if it works, if we are getting something lesser.
#5 again, no, I'm not giving Prusa another dime. This is the nail in the coffin. If I'm getting something lesser, at this point, my recourse is just to tell everyone I know about Prusa and how we were dealt and why to never buy from them again.
#6 if you need something else to be angry at them with- remember the textured PEI beds that should be for sale, but aren't, that some people got and others didn't, that we still continue to get jerked around on.

I was so upset and angry that I had done impulse purchase order of Mosaic Palette 2.0 MMU(shipping on November) just to release my frustrations. After consistently contacting customer service on average of 5 times a day for update, they told me that the firmware is about to release within 3 days(hopefully).

In the following thread, it was revealed that the MMUv2 full kit doesn't actually work on the MK2.5 right now: https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/general-discussion-announcements-and-releases-f53/mm-2-0-mk2-5-mk3-does-not-work-with-mk2-5-t24797-s60.html

That's because the MMUv2 full kit was missing a 12V power cable and it also doesn't have firmware support for the MK2.5.

So there's no actual difference between the MMUv2 full kit and MMUv1-to-v2 upgrade kit. It's just that the people receiving the MMUv2 full kit are receiving pieces of hardware that don't work yet with the MK2.5.

Since the MMUv2 full kit doesn't actually work yet with the MK2.5, that's probably why there has been a delay on the MMUv1-to-v2 upgrade kit. They probably want to make the MMUv2 work with the MK2.5 work before shipping the upgrade kits out.

I can understand why people are upset about other people getting the MMU 2.0 full kit before people getting the MMU 1.0 to 2.0 upgrade kit, but if it does upset you, it might ease your mind a bit to know that even people with the MMU 2.0 full kit can't get it to work on their MK2.5 yet, so there's no actual point to them having it in hand right now. Those folks aren't any happier with the situation =P

Better not receive your MMU 1.0 to 2.0 upgrade kit until they fix the issue otherwise you will be seeing it idle everyday and will make you mad.
