I would just mention that I had a look at the instagram posts; didn't see that many purge towers or print times 🙁 But the prints do look rather nice 🙂

I noticed on the Chewbacca post that Chewbacca had bluish feet. I'm wondering if they're using purge as infill on those prints.

I believe that option is available with Slic3r. But a tower will still most likely be required, at least for the ramming before unload.

So while we wait for our MMU2's to ship, it's worth noting that XYZprinting went live today with a new version of their full color printer, the da Vinci Color Mini. The price ($999 for early buyers) is very attractive, but XYZ printing doesn't have the best reputation in the industry and will lock you into proprietary filament and ink.

I doubt I'll ever own another XYZPrinting machine. The software is horrible and being locked into their proprietary ecosystem is even worse.

Prusa just posted an update to their shipping page. The note about the MMU2 has not changed, it still says:

Multi Material upgrades v2 and MK3 ordered together with redesigned Multi Material upgrades - we aim to start shipping at the back half of August 2018 (after beta testing phase), a majority in September and October, new MMU for MK3 orders in November/December 2018.

Since we are now in the back half of August, I hope this means they expect to begin shipping the MMU within the next week and a half.

If they follow their earlier patterns it'll be another delay. Although I'm wholeheartedly hoping I'm proven wrong.

PR should take the time and make it work reliable. Based on the firmware changelog it looks to me like we are in the early Alpha for MMU v2. If it takes till November/December it's fine to me.
The only thing they need to hurry is a good competition coming soon: Palette 2 😉

I think they have gotten through a large logjam. They are shipping 3-4 weeks of printers at once based on forum reports.

It highly depends how many ordered MMU. MMU v1 was not really famous and not everybody with MK2.5/MK3 want to have MMU unit on top.
Hopefully my January order will be on the way soon, too 🙂
