Re: MM 2.0 MK2.5/MK3 does not work with MK2.5

My mmu2 order has shown Shipping soon for over a week!

I am turning blue from lack of oxygen, having held by breath in excitement, far too long!

i have a RAMBo 1.3a board, and there is no connections for the type of cable supplied with MMU2. and that board should be the newest, of the rambo's used on the MK2.5(MK2S)

Is your MMU2.0 working on your MK2.5 printer?

No, i can't connect it with the supplied cable. i haven't had time to contact costumer support yet, due to work.

Kenneth, Thank you for the reply. That means I have big problem. If it arrived, I wont be able to use it for my project. I should have followed by guts to pre-order Mosaic Pallete 2.0 when it was first offered and should be shipped to me by 15Oct. I will just send my project for 3d printing services if this issue not resolved by Oct20. Sigh...

Re: MM 2.0 MK2.5/MK3 does not work with MK2.5

Customer service told me that cable or connector will be provided but still need to wait for the firmware. I was wondering why no much noise in the forum considering that a lot of users upgraded to MK2.5. So I contacted them to check if its related to Rambo version since I remembered mentioning me old boards were affected. Yesterday I confirmed that only Rambo 10a is afftected.

Mine is 13a and it should work..hopefully.

I'm really hating this. I have to look when I get home, but my "soon to be MK2.5" is originally an reasonably old MK2, so I'm afraid that it might be an older board and that I just bought that upgrade for zilch. Why couldn't things like this be announced before people where given the option to buy this?

XL (5T) / MK4 / MK3S+-MMU3 / MK3S / MK2.5S-MMU2S / Mini / SL1S

Prusa is a good brand with good support but very frustrating when it comes to shipment. My colleagues were shocked when I told them how long I have been waiting for this upgrade alone. And now I don't know if my order MMU2.0 will actually work on MK2.5.

Anyone managed to run MMU2.0 on MK2.5?

Found this in the pull request

https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/pull/1024

Seems the issues has been known for a few months

Made this pull request on 9th august but had no reply or reactions from Prusa. Hoped that they would seen that and prevent this issue before shipping. Also mentioned this in chat and to forward this to the tech team. But getting a Pull Request in the firmware is hard.
Also posted an issue on mm-control-01 github trying to warn them on 30th August https://github.com/prusa3d/MM-control-01/issues/23 again now feedback.

Let's hope they figure it out soon and fix it

Re: MM 2.0 MK2.5/MK3 does not work with MK2.5

If somebody is willing to make an split data cable himself, I can provide the firmware for the MK2.5 hex files if you aren't familiar compiling it.
Changing the mmu2 power cable to miniRAMbo plug is bit more concerning as these need to be perfectly assembled and plugged in properly.

I might contact you if it didn’t work. Customer support told me Rambo 1.3a should work but Im still waiting for shipment. Thank you for your kind offer.

Making cable is not an issue for me.

My mmu1 to mmu2 status changed to shipping soon, we will see what cables we get. I want to be able to connect it to my mk3 as well to the miniRAMbo, so cross fingers we get data cables+ y cable and power cables for mk3 and mk2.5

As far I can see both miniRAMbo should work with the right cables, read my posts https://github.com/prusa3d/MM-control-01/issues/23 and https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/pull/1024

Any schematic or picture for the cable?

here some links
MiniRAMbo 1.0 https://github.com/ultimachine/Mini-Rambo/blob/a6957a0400928e1a689a58d3d4a329c67ab4d668/board/Project%20Outputs%20for%20Mini-Rambo/Mini-Rambo.PDF
MiniRAMbo 1.3a https://github.com/ultimachine/Mini-Rambo/blob/1.3a/board/Project%20Outputs%20for%20Mini-Rambo/Mini-Rambo.PDF
MM-control-02 https://github.com/prusa3d/MM-control-2.0/blob/master/rev.03/MM-control.pdf
As you can see the mm controller uses a 5 pin data connector where pin 9 on miniRAMbos is reset but on einsy PJ5, this needs a split cable like the mk2.5 pindav2 or Noctua fan.
The power cable the send now you can find in the mmu manual but as the miniRAMbo has the green plug for power in vs. Einsy screw terminals you gonna need also here a special cable.

Hope that helps.

Re: MM 2.0 MK2.5/MK3 does not work with MK2.5

I got it. Thank you.

Connecting it directly will rest both mmu2 and printer, and that you don't want. My pull request should fix it.
The bigger problem is the power cable as these green connectors need to be seated well otherwise you might end up with a molten connector as we have seen several times on the bed connector.
I am curious what Prusa mmu2 to mk25 power cable will look like.
It will be also interesting how the mmu2 will perform on 12V as the TMC2130 like higher voltage.

Glad could help to make it more clear.

By the way, Do you think it will work if I supply it with external PS?
