Heatbed switched off after MMU load failure
Printing a multicolour Gear bearing and have encountered multiple issues with loading - mostly related to filament stringing.
After 10 hours printing and 9 load failures with no issues resuming, suddenly encountered an issue. Instead of the usual MMU needs attention error I received "MMU load Failure". I corrected the issue with the MMU and the print resumed automatically. However the hotbed has been switched off so is now cooling down to 0. The print will then detach.
Also looks like some sort of axis shift as well (no the printer was not bumped in any way).
I have had this happen before - though not whilst I was actually watching.
RE: Heatbed switched off after MMU load failure
Just noted another issue. After stopping the print, the MMU unloaded the filament, but then reloaded it before stopping. I manually unloaded and it completed this ok. However it then heated the hotend and bed to operating temps and just maintained this (until I reset the unit).
RE: Heatbed switched off after MMU load failure
That's one issue I've not seen before lol. I know when it has an error it will, for safety turn off the hot end. I think this is primarily for soluble supports, particular PVA that can carbonize in the nozzle if left in there too long. I've worried about printing on textured sheet with the MMU because I always worried about that issue happening since the part will detach from the plate when the plate cools. But I've not had it happen.
It's the MMU life, you never know what new way it might fail 🙂
RE: Heatbed switched off after MMU load failure
So it was suggested to me yesterday that I try reflashing the MMU firmware. And, knock on wood, this has seemed to help the erratic behavior I was seeing from the MMU. Since I got the MMU with 1.0.6 I never had flashed it myself. I had done with the printer since there were several firmware updates since I got it. Did one successful 7h 3-color print overnight. Running a 14h 3-color print(same filaments loaded as the 7h) test. I would say if this works I'll be pretty happy.
