Firmware 1.0.2 for the MMU2 unit

Hi guys,
this is an upgrade of the firmware for the MMU2 control board inside the multi-material unit.

What is new?

This firmware version is specifically for users who use MK2.5 + MMU2 setup. If you use MMU2 with MK3 printer there is no need to upgrade MMU2 firmware to this version.

In previous firmware versions, the MMU2 operation was quite loud when using with MK2.5 printer. This firmware solves the issue. When using the MK2.5 printer with firmware 3.4.2 and higher, the printer sends command for setting MMU2 currents specifically for usage with MK2.5 and switches MMU2 drivers to stealth mode.

Please upgrade the firmware printer as well: Firmware 3.4.2-FINAL for Original Prusa i3 MK3/MK2.5 MMU2

---

Supported printers:
Original Prusa i3 MK3 Multi Material 2.0
Original Prusa i3 MK2.5 Multi Material 2.0

Download link:
https://www.prusa3d.com/drivers/
(in the archive with the MK3 MMU2 firmware)

Previous releases:
1.0.1
0.9.0 (initial release)

Note: Use Slic3r PE 1.41.0 or latest to flash the MMU2 control board

Please report any bug here:

We wish you a successful calibration and look forward to your feedback!

Re: Firmware 1.0.2 for the MMU2 unit

Is there any plans to make the MMU come up from RESET in a known state? When might a new release come out? Are there ANY functions/plans/upgrades/bug-fixes planned or is the MMU and printer just done now?

Hi Abraham,
there is a lot of things in the firmware pipeline and we share them as soon as the feature is finished and working (mostly as a firmware in alpha stage).

Bug fixes can be monitored on the GitHub, under given firmware open the "Issues" tab to see, which bug are being worked on.

Is there any plans to make the MMU come up from RESET in a known state?

Can you please explain, what would you like the MMU2 to do after the reset?

Re: Firmware 1.0.2 for the MMU2 unit

I haven't been able to tell which items are being worked on from what I see here nor on GitHub. I have seen a lot of posts saying "if we just had some feedback, we'd all be a lot more relaxed". I, for one, would love nothing better than to say "I see an issue" and to hear "we'll fix it when we get to it". Enough said there.

After a reset, the MMU should home, so that the selector and the drum can work together to feed filament out of the MMU.
Currently, resetting only leaves the MMU in the homed state about 20% of the time. I've run several other firmwares and they work 95+%, nearly always really, so I'm not convinced it is mechanical.

Better still would be smooth handling by the Mk3 so that the device can recover from a reset.

A dedicated "rehome" command would make a lot of sense, or utilizing StallGuard.

i would be very happy to make separate, new topics for each issue and let them have their own unique discussion as warranted.

Best place for that is Github issue tracker. Open a github issue with detailed description.

Hi,
Though the function of the button varies, depending on the situation. check the troubleshooting section, where most of the LEDs and button actions are described:
