Bit the bullet and ordered the MMU 2.0

I am hesitant about ordering it because of 2 things.
-The first MMU did not work to spec. Seems like lots of problems and they are not doing a lot to make these people whole.
- Sept New York Makers fair seems to be where they make big announcements of new products. They have hinted something is coming out come Sept.

Oh well I am happy with my MK3 and will be happy with the MMU 2.0. If anything I think they will either come out with a bigger printer or SLS or SLA printer. I am thinking Bigger printer and SLA printer. SLS is still too expensive for home use.

Re: Bit the bullet and ordered the MMU 2.0

I haven't seen any rumblings about new products for this September, so I think you are safe to buy an MMU 2.0. At least, there are no rumblings like last year, when Josef was tweeting pictures of the einsy board and steel plate and other big hints about the MK3. I'm not sure they have the engineering bandwidth for another new and big product now either. They've got people on Slic3r PE, firmware for MK3 (which seems mostly stable now and settled down), and plenty of people working on MMU 2.0 to work out the bugs, increase the printer profiles, and ship out to customers. I think thats going to keep them busy for the next few months.

If there are any announcements at all before end of year, I think it will probably be filament related, as they get their filament manufacture facility on line.

My guess is that are working on an SLA solution internally, as Josef hinted at some non-FDM printing research that is going on. But I'm guessing thats at least another 6-12 months off. And while there is a big wish-list of features for an MK3.5 (touch screen, wifi, etc), I don't know if its really neccessary at this point. Upgrading to a touch screen seems like a really big overhaul as well, since any touch screen is not going to support the 8-bit controller. They'll have to make the jump at some point, but I don 't think its time just yet.

All speculation on my part however! So take it with a grain of salt.

I ordered my MMU the other day, and am looking forward to it arriving! Gonna be so nice to print in multiple colors! Also, printing with BVOH is going to be a godsend for certain projects. Sometimes you just can't design a part that is friendly to FDM without a whole MESS of supports that throw off tolerances are difficult to remove.
