2000 tool change mark

I am happy to say I have hit to 2000 tool change mark.
about 2000 more to go but so far so good.

I ran out of "red" filament. and another roll ran out no issues on changing the rolls.

let the machine run until it errors then pull off the ugly orange tube to get the last of the filament out.

100% prusa firmware and hardware. well minus the spool holders...well because empty plastic bottles do a better job.

I have a Prusa,therefore I research.

looks like a slight layer skip toward the bottom? the wipe tower has a break in the pattern.

yes, my white had an issue. pissed me off. but its still rocking. a shame the filament sensor on the extruder should have caught that.

I blame myself for that one. my white does not have an empty plastic bottle yet 😀 drinking dew as fast as I can.

that white mess up was the last time I touched it besides changing filament rolls.

Re: 2000 tool change mark

so the failure is about average now even as a single material the MK3 would do something funky in a print 😀

well the one failure was because my white filament got tangled. but ya. im glad I know what happened and fixed it (almost have another empty bottle)

maybe they will allow the extruder sensor someday. but that would have solved that skipped layer.

staying stock firmware, hardware (spool holders don't count) and slicer settings has been tough, but I do it for science.

Re: 2000 tool change mark

Very Impressive. We have to make a ranking now??

200+ tool changes no errors = Padawan accepted into Jedi academy
500+ tool changes no errors = Almost a Jedi??
1000+ tool changes no errors = Passed the trails to become a Jedi Knight
2000+ tool changes no errors = Seasoned Jedi
5000+ ??? Anybody even have a print like this = Master Jedi Yoda

Prusa MK3 preassembled (R2/B6) > (R3/B/7)
Prusa MK2.5 kit > MK3 > MK3+MMU2 (R3/B/7) 😀
Prusa SL1 3D printer + Curing and Washing Machine (day1 order)

I would accept that challenge, but unfortunately my printers have to be used for productive purposes for then next week or so 😉

MMU2 is a fickle beast so are you using classic, diet, or maybe code red Mountain Dew bottles? And we need pics!

It would have to be 5 filaments on every layer with layer height at 0.15mm. Or adaptive layers - that would do it. The model would have to be small as the purge tower would be large. I think a 200mm Adalinda in 5C would do it ...

Now I have to check my schedules ...

Wifey is wanting to open a cat cafe and I am printing some lithophane coasters out of HIPS. I only need 100 of those, so 25 prints taking 8 hours each. Hummbugger.

its up to 2680

give me time to clean up my rig and make it presentable.
right now it's held together with zip ties, tape, and cardboard.

I guess I should say that the bottles are for the filament backup. the spools are just on a shaft.

@toaf
please let me know if this ranking nonsense is unwelcome in your thread.

@Peter
I can only find a 4 color Adalinda.
100% scale, 200.15mm Height
0.15mm layer height
4Days 7hours
"**Only**" 2971 tool changes according to slic3r

Ok good idea. I split the model into even more parts for 5 colors, but we arent going to get 5000+ tool changes. Most I can get is 2701, 4days 8hours.

dangit.. at least I know I can change up my color spiral. wonder how many layers I can get out of it at .15. it does kinda look neat. I'm at work but it is still printing I just checked on it.
