Trying to load filament for the first time after assembly: selector gets stuck, even with no filament loaded.

I can go from position 1 to maybe a third of the way to position 2 even when there is no filament. I am able to load the filament into position 1. I tried loosening the screws with springs to the point where they just engage the nuts and backing out other nearby  screws by one or two turns hoping to gain some wiggle room but it didn't make any difference. I do remember doing that step after putting in the shafts to make sure the selector could slide all the way from side to side and it did. What do I do?

Update: I unscrewed the threaded flange from the selector and then the buttons move the threaded rod as they should so it is not the motor. The printed parts must be binding somewhere. I will work on filing them down.

Another update. Well, shoot. It's the the holes for the smooth rods that puts the rods skewed. As someone on here said, the MMU is a hobby unto itself.

Yes, the MMU2S Baptism By Fire!  😉

I found that the assembly of the MMU2s required more manual clean-up of the pieces and far more reading between the lines in the assembly instructions.

Two things that I recommend you do with the MMU2s are ... ...

1. Remixed 'manifold' with the Bowden tube fittings.  This is in the Prints section.  Much easier to work with than the one that simply clamps the tubes.

2. Switch to power down the MMU when not in use, to use the machine as a plain vanilla single-color printer.  The switch housing is in the Prints section, and the frame of the I3 has two tapped holes that almost appear to be intended for such a thing.  Use a DPST switch and break both positive and negative power when in the OFF position.

I got it I got it! Had to file those holes lower a good 2-3 mm downward and now the selector moves like butter to all 5 positions.
