Trimming of the MMU2s PTFE cables
I am going to mount my buffer to the wall and I want to place the MK3 on a shelf in front of it. I was wondering how short is acceptable to trim the PTFE? I saw that in the new IKEA lack enclosure they trim it by 155mm but is more acceptable?

which PTFE? from reel to MMU or from MMU to extruder?
MMU to extruder is fairly critical,
Reel to MMU, is not critical in length, what you need to achieve is a smooth sweep into the MMU with the least curvature you can manage, in order to keep the friction to a minimum.

I'm not aware of any size limitations. Most important is the friction. It should be as minimal as possible and it's actually easy to test.
Place everything for one filament how you would like to do. Then push the filament through all tubes and the MMU. Then grab the filament with your finger and pull on it. If you feel a lot of resistance and it's hard to pull it out, then you need to adjust the angles, take better/wide PTFE tubes.
I've seen very short tube solutions but also very long (longer then meters). So both is possible.
Edit: I assume you're talking about PTFE tubes between MMU and filament roll.

I am talking about the ptfe from the mmu to the buffer so your answers have helped tremendously!
thank you 🙂
