The long way to a sucessfull print

Hi fellows,

I got my MMU2.0 now working pretty reliable and so I wanted to share what I tuned to get there. Unfortunately it is far far away from plug&play for the time being:

- I upgraded the spool holders with the parts from PMeyer out of thingiverse. That lessens the resistance significantly.
- I re-drilled all holes for filament in the filament path plastic parts with 2mm to get rid of rough/tight areas.
- I added springs to the Bowden attachment on the filament selector, as suggested in this forum. I used idler springs and shortened screws out of my MMU 1.0 for that.
- I calibrated filament length not to the middle of the idler gear but to the top of the extruder Teflon tube. Access pressure will be mitigated by the springs on the selector-Bowden attachment.
- I lowered print temperature as far as possible.
- I increased cooling moves to 3 to 4 depending on filament.

Only thing I will do after Christmas is changing the orange Bowden to a 2.5/4mm Bowden to further lessen friction.

Awesome print! No missing layers, that's a relief to see.

I've done all of these mods + a few more and I'm very close. I think the last thing is just adjusting my ramming settings, still getting unload issues (but no load issue!)

What filament brand are you using? Custom ramming settings? This is the biggest factor with the MMU, I feel. It's a guessing game atm, since there is no documentation for the settings.

3. I've swapped out all of the stock 2mm ID PTFE tubes for 2.5mm ID

I'm using hatcbox filament, using 0Calvins custom ramming settings in this video, printing at 205 (probably a bit high, but it works)

Very nice print. I wouldn't change anything else. I thing you found a sweet spot for your MMU2.

Hi,

Red/blue is rigid.ink PLA and the tires are Prusament PLA.

Prusament worked without any problem, the rigid.ink needed more cooling movements (4).

Do you have any pictures of this? I'd like to try this, sounds like a sensible mod, along with the magnet for the FINDA ball.
My FINDA has been more reliable since switching to 5 degree/dropped MMU2 mounts (here: www.thingiverse.com/thing:3286954)

I already have the pass-through extruder cover which helped a load, but I still get unloading issues quite often because the filament tip is too large to pass through the bontech gears!

Don't rush, take your time and if you stuck somewhere just ask with a detailed description. We have already couple people here who are printing pretty reliable with MMU2 and are ready to help.

So not only did you find the sweet spot, but you can do it with multiple vendor filaments...! Good Job. While I'm waiting to get my replacement display board I'll try this. Thank you for sharing.
