Prints fail on first few layers

My prints will start out fine, with a perfect first layer, but then will blob on one of the next few layers, failing with a "crash detected" message by the 5th layer. I'm using the mmu in single filament mode while I try to print parts for my ikea lack enclosure, but it keeps failing before anything significant is made for the parts.

Possibly relevant information:

I'm printing in single filament mode using prusa slicer

I'm using Prusament PETG with the default profile and .4mm nozzle

I printed a test cube to calibrate my extrusion multiplier and it was fine

I calibrated my z offset with a test square and get a great first layer

I turned down the print fan from 30% to 20% and nothing changed

Here's some examples:

Where does the blob come from? Maybe your hot end is leaking material... Is the nozzle clean? Especially the little space between the nozzle and the heat block?

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
Find out why this is pinned in the general section!

@robin

Yup, the nozzle is clean and tight. If it helps, I've been able to print a few things since then, but only in other filaments. Its only the prusament / PETG that has this problem
