Printed some MMU parts, second guessing my wisdom

I printed one of these in PLA. The main reason I printed it was because I saw several posts/blogs/videos with suggested improvements for the MMU. This item was a fairly common theme. I think the only real improvement this provides is that it has a slot for a magnet to pull the over sized ball bearing. Now that I have my MMU in hand to build it, I've learned that the ball bearing is barely magnetic. Even with a huge neodymium magnet, the ball is only slightly attracted to it. This means the little magnet will provide almost no force to pull the ball down and away from the finda sensor.

I figured, "what the hell, I'll go with it anyway," since I went through the effort to print it. It would be difficult to describe to you just how stupendously troublesome this part was for me to print. Regardless, it is now assembled into my almost-complete MMU assembly.

Is there any reason to think that being printed out of PLA is an issue? Several times I've read that all MMU/printer parts should be printed in PETG instead of PLA. My printer is in the V2 Lack enclosure, so I do expect it to get warm but not hot.

RE: Printed some MMU parts, second guessing my wisdom

I have been running for months with the stock MMU2S assembly and I have very few problems at this point. It took me a bit to figure out the best way to set things up and debug the occasional load/unload failure but now that I have my setup dialed in I am thinking that people have problems with the MMU2S because they stop trying to figure out why its "breaking" before they fully understand how it works and start trying to fix it. All that being said I am building the Ryper MMU2+1S 10 color mod because it looks cool and that many colors in a print makes my brain explode.

My advice is ignore the selector mod, go with the original selector and figure out how to tune your printer. Now that my setup is dialed in I get a jam maybe once every few hundred color changes.
