Print doesn't start even if it's extruding

Hi

I've just tried to print with PP (Formfutura Centaur PP black) and got some troubles. The worst was that the filament was winding around the extruder gear... But that's not the actual problem.

After several fails I saw that the filament goes perfectly through the PFTE tube into the extruder, the gears grab it and the filament is coming out of the nozzle. However, the extruder changes direction and ejects the filament to tries again. In the meantime, there is a big blob of the extruded filament below the nozzle.

With PLA (tried right after) it works.

What's the reason for the printer not starting? What does it wait for?

I've tried to lower/higher the force on the filament with the extruder door but it didn't help.

Thanks already!

I just solved the problem.

In the thread "Successful MMU2S Modifications (re-upload)" Mathieu mentioned a change of the idler door. So I watched the IR Sensor when the extrusion with PP starts. Since it's a very soft material, the door didn't open enough, that the lever covers the IR Sensor. The IR sensor in the settings shows 0.

This time I pushed the lever in as soon as the material was caught by the extruder gears so the IR sensor in the settings showed 1. and it started printing.

Even pushing the sensor more to the lever didn't help. I will either print the new idler door mentioned in the thread or bend the current one in so that it will trigger earlier.

I guess with TPU I'll get the same problem, so it's worth doing something against it.
