RE: Posting Out of pure frustration.

Is the IR sensor enabled for this print?

If not, make sure you turn it on for future prints. Until you can get through a full print with no issues, don't bother with the MMU.

I wiggled the IR wire, it changed the IR sensor state from 0-1!!!!  Might have found part of the problem which one of you had that problem and what did you do? Dig at the cover with a knife until it fit?

Fixed it, snipped the wires/pins a bit shorter that were coming through the top of the board.  IR reads 0 no matter how much i wiggle it now. With wire in extruder

Ok, no change, turned the sensor back on, still read 0 recalibrating the sensor now.

Yeap. I think Prusa switched to the IR sensor as some cruel prank on us. The thing is the root of all evil!

There is a plate (top of the tower?) that they tell you to be careful that it is oriented correctly during assembly. Double check that and see if that helps.

OK I'm now turning off the IR sensor, and I'm printing some updated idler arm that claims to fix the issue.  I'll report back when I've gained enough patience to replace the idler arm without throwing the printer out the window 😀 thanks you two, Gnat and nikolai.  Again very helpful.  I wouldnt know it was the IR screwing things up if not for you two.

NOW since I still have your attention... any ideas about my knife problem?

The knife is only slightly better than useless, ignore it 😉

RE: Posting Out of pure frustration.

Mine is still installed, but many have reported similar issues as you and simply remove it.

Basically it's not strong enough to cut filament and strings just bend out of the way.

in an MMU equipped MK3S the IR sensor is used to tell the MMU the filament has reached the extruder, the filament out sensing is done at the finda on the MMU. if they didn't do the sensing at the finda by the time the IR  sensed no filament you would not be able to remove the stub stuck in the extruder.

Don't be so sure and try it anyway. Visually I would have sworn my door was identical except for the enlarged flag (which it was the only change in the STL), but it was a totally different fit when I installed it.

I am not impressed with Prusa's print quality. You'd think they'd have their farm be a showcase for what these printers can produce, but apparently not.
