Octoprint + MMU2

So I have my MMU2 installed and I'm trying some single-color prints since my filament holders aren't set up yet (40cm is a long area). Anyway, I uploaded a re-sliced Benchy to Octoprint and it automatically went to Filament 2 instead of performing the T? command. Has anyone else seen this and is there any fix?

Re: Octoprint + MMU2

During update of mk3 to mmu2 I removed Octoprint from the equation just to isolate any issues to mk3 and mmu2. I only last night had a successful multicolr print. If I do a 1st layer calibration from printers lcd, it asks me to choose a filament.....it doesn't prompt you to choose a filament?

Question for you:
So u only have 1 color filament loaded??
Do you mean with the 1 color preloaded and ready to go, once you hit print on Octoprint the mmu changes to filament 2 before printing even if no filament is present..?

This is a suggestions as I haven't reattached my Octoprint so I'm unsure if this will work.

Have you tried:
Reslice model but with single mmu profile.

Prusa MK3 preassembled (R2/B6) > (R3/B/7)
Prusa MK2.5 kit > MK3 > MK3+MMU2 (R3/B/7) 😀
Prusa SL1 3D printer + Curing and Washing Machine (day1 order)

CR10s4
Delta 3ku

Re: Octoprint + MMU2

Hi. I'm slicing using the MMU2 Single profile. I see in the profile where it's supposed to be asking for a filament to choose but it isn't allowing me to select it.

I'm trying now to go through the SD card without OctoPrint to see if that fixes anything. I have 1 filament loaded into F1, but had to switch it to F2 when it wouldn't let me select the filament.

Edit: selected filament when going through SD card. Might be an issue with Octoprint not understanding the gcode to send to printer?

Re: Octoprint + MMU2

I noticed going through Octoprint it reverts to the second filament also. I haven’t tried with just the sd card. I only have two filaments loaded and it will prime with the second first then go to the first and prime then the machine beeps and nothing happens after that.

On MMU1, the printer also beeps after priming. You need to press "resume" on your octoprint screen to start the actual print after priming.

Re: Octoprint + MMU2

Noticed the same, when printing on the MMU2 in single filament mode, the problem is with the GCODE: T?. This should result on a prompt on the MK3/MMU2 display to select the filament to print with. Instead it does something else, perhaps send info to the USB and the net result is that it wants to select filament "2".

I changed in the gcode file (on the octoprint server) the line that says T? into T0. This then selects the first filament. They seem to be numbered T0, T1, T2, T3, T4 .

There still seems to be a problem "loading"the filament, as extrusion does not start immediately...

I am not sure whether this is a problem with Octoprint or the MK3/MMU2. One thing is sure now: it doesn't work....

Re: Octoprint + MMU2

I'm at a point where I'm willing to print MMU prints on octoprint, it seems to work fine (minus the fact that I haven't printed any of my own prints due to stringing during the ramming). For single, I'm just going through the SD card. Le sigh.

This problem is fixed with the 3.5.0-RC1 firmware.

Re: Octoprint + MMU2

I think this bug persists for multi filament prints on 3.5.0. I created a multi filament print using extruder 0, 2 and 3 only. When printed through octoprint the MK3 would right after initial printing the long purge line on E0(F1) as expected, stops and tries to load E1(F2). Again E1(F2) is not part of the print.

When I run the exact same Gcode from the SD card, this does not happen.

I really do not believe this is a firmware issue. I have never had these problems and I don't use Slic3r. For single-filament prints, I select the extruder in the slicer and it works; for 2, 3 or 4 extruder prints, I do the same and it works. I never use the SD card, only Octoprint on a Pi 2+.

Upload a model where this happens, I will slice it for you and you can check it works.

Re: Octoprint + MMU2

I had the latest firmware on my prusa and mmu2 and i had the latest octoprint version (updated yesterday)
It is not possibe to print a multicolor object via Octoprint.
The same GCode from SD Card work perfect.
