MMU2S dont seem to be able to load filament at all (MMU2S doing everything all wrong)

Upgraded to MMU2S and MK3S. Trying to do the setup. (had to start all over cause when trying Z-calibration in run the hotend to the board.).

Complete new setup with wizard seem to fix that, but when its time to load filament the MMU sometimes moves to filament pos 5 and sometimes position 3 instead of position 1 and is says "loading filament 236". Cant make it work. It seem to try to load the wrong filament position and also doesnt seem to actually controll the selector motor that well.

I have flashed the MK3S with the latest(3.7.1) and the MMU2S with the(1.0.5). Done it twice actually and also confirmed on the display that its 3.7.1 and 1.0.5.  The MMU loading worked very fine until upgrade and flash.

Did I miss som kind of change/ rebuild of the MMU2 --> MMU2S ? I haven't made any changes to the MMU2-MMU2S except the buffer, and the MK3S of course, is upgraded.

You are correct that the addition of the buffer is the only physical change for the MMU.

Since the implication is that you had a working MMU before the work, the only thing I can really suggest is double checking the connections for both the IR sensor and MMU on the main board.

I did check all the cables before, did it again. Still not working and I get 5 red/green leds on the MMU2s.´The manual say its because of to little power = check cables. I just cant come any further right now… :-/

Hmm... Too little power doesn't sound good.

Do you have an Octoprint installed? If so, you might try removing that and see if that helps.

Next up I'd check continuity and resistance on all the cables (I don't know what the resistances should be though).

If the wires and connections all check out and you've removed your Octoprint board (if you have one) and you still have the issue, then I'd suspect that maybe the power supply isn't happy.

I think I found the problem.

( No octoprint installed)

The MMU2/S signal cable from the Rambo board didn't catch the pins that well. It was only mounted once, when first time connecting the MMU2, and only disconnected prior to the upgrader to Mk3S/MMU2S and after this only connected once. But it wasn't a snug fit and it would come loose very easy. I took the pins out of the signal cable and pinched them a bit with a pliar.

After this is works, but I still had the same problem once after this fix(All leds flashing red/gren). As the MMU2 worked perfectly when it comes to this parts( connected power, loading/unloading of filament etc.) from day one until after the upgrade I think there might be a problem with the firmware or someting like that. As there was no upgrade or work on the MMU2S at all, except from disconnecting this wire I hardly can see  that someting actually did change on the MMU part.

I expect this problem to be seen again, at least by me. Hope not, but….

Update:

Did a couple of prints, no problem now. It must have been the bad connector causing bad connection between the Rambo board and the MMU2(S) board.

So its happening again, MMU2(s) is dojng strange things, looking for filament 4 and the mk3s says loanding filament 236, after this the MMU2s flashes red/green with all leds.

I cant come past this this time.

The MMU isnt touched at all (besides disconnect-reconnect of the cable, as for the manual for the MK3S/MMU2 upgrade says).

Seems some kind of software glitch ?

Not happy at all, I did wait for this upgrade for better function, but it got worse. A lot worse :-/

It suddenly started working again, I dont know why.

"Loading filament 256" and going for filament 4 dont make sense when asking it to load filament 1.

filament 256
