MMU motors quit during print

Hello all,
I’ve been tinkering with the MMU2 for the past two weeks. I feel like I have found good settings and the filament changes reliably.

Now I am having failed prints due to a new reason. The motors on the MMU quit. It is usually the idler selector motor, but it has also been the pulley motor once and both of them one time too.

I can’t figure it out. I have added the springs on the selector mod which helped tremendously with getting filament to load reliably and without grinding the filament.

I am using 3.5.1 and 1.0.3 firmwares. But it also happened with 3.5.1 and 1.0.2

The print is recoverable if you reset the MMU2, and then manually get the filament set to the right channel and pause the print and select load to nozzle.

I’ve had exactly one successful print, a 3 color lizard with ~150 tool changes and it requires no intervention.

I can’t figure it out. Any help?

Thanks!

I’d like to add that the motors are not hot when this error happens. They just quit responding and can be easily turned by hand.

Reset the MMU only. It helps to safe the print.

This happened to me yeasteday too. Reseting the MMU resets also the printer (MK2.5) so print failed.

On MK3 I was able to reset the MMU twice in one print without any issues.
Can someone confirm this is not working on MK2.5?

Resetting the MMU2 definitely resets the Mk2.5. I've had several prints ruined because of this failure. I've reached the point where I only trust the MMU2 for single extrusion and even that is not 100% successful due to the misalignment of the selector introduced in the latest firmware release.

Are you on the latest firmware for the MMU2 and your MK2.5? I ask because I have the same hardware. When I reset the MMU2 unit it doesn't reset my MK2.5. And the print resumes where it left off. Are you using the reset button on the MMU2 unit, or are you using the reset button at the front of your MK2.5?

On caveat: I've only needed/tried to reset my MMU2 when it halts mid print due to a load/unload issue.
