MMU calibration issues

I have built my MMU and am trying to go through setup.

I can load 5 filaments into the MMU ready and then go into the special menu to set the calibration to the extruder bondtech gear.

For instance start with filament 1.

Press load (Middle button) - filament starts slowly and accelerates and i cannot see the filament in the opened extruder section. Press the left button until I can see the filament halfway down the Bondtech.

The press middle button which is supposed to save & filament is retracted. Wait for Green light.

Press the middle button again and the filament goes back to the point where it was initially!

It does not seem to be saving the new length. This is the same for me if i do position 1 or 2,3,4,5.

Am i doing something wrong?

Re: MMU calibration issues

That sounds correct.

Hav you reset the MMU (small button recessed on the left side, next to the USB?)
There are directions on-line somewhere on how to do a full reset too

Re: MMU calibration issues

I've also read that you want to do each filament 3 times. What I mean by that is that you want to set the length, press middle button, filament retracts, press middle button, filament loads. If it did not return to the proper spot at the bontech gears, make the adjustment, then do process all over again. Do this until the filament goes back to the proper spot at least 3 times in a row before moving on to the next filament. I don't know why, but I'm guessing that sometimes the set length does not get recorded, so by repeating process so that you have 3 consecutive good loads you ensure that the filament length has been properly recorded before moving on to the next. Once all 5 filaments have been done this way, all I did was press the right button on more time, the loader moves all the way over to the right, and then I think you get both the red and green light lit on filament number 5. Then all I did was press the middle button and everything returned to normal. I don't think you have to press the reset button on the side of the MMU to exit the calibration menu. I know I didn't, and everything has been working ok for me.

Thanks Wayne.

Doing it 3 times seems to have done the trick.

I now have another issue which i need to sort. The print head is banging the left hand side when homing. It is not hitting the micro switch so i need to examine why that is. Probably just cable management.

One step forward and two backwards so far 🙂
