MK3S extruder moving roughly after MMU2S assembly

I just finished the MMU2S assembly; I have flashed the firmwares but not proceeded beyond that.

My issue is that when I move the X-axis manually (while the printer is off or the motors are at least disabled) it glides *very* roughly compared to before. Before, it of course had a noticeable resistance; now it moves very jerkily.

Obviously I changed something due to loosening all the screws and re-tightening them later. I already tried fiddling with the easily accessible screws on the back plate, that didn't change anything though.

Before I try around randomly to loosen or tighten all the screws: did one of you already encounter this problem, and what did you do to solve it?

(The MK3S has been printing very nicely for a year now, including just before the upgrade; and I recall moving the extruder manually just before to get it nicely centered - it felt very smooth and normal).

Thanks for any suggestions.

I had a similar problem after I replaced the hot end.  I had tightened the 4 bolts on the xcarriage too tight and the bearings were being pinched and making a grinding sound.  Those bolts really should be pretty loose, like hand tight + 1/4 turn in my experience.  Give that a shot.

Right on the button. Now that you bring it up - when disassembling those during the MMU2S procedure, I did notice that they were quite loose-fitting already. After loosening them again, everything is fine now. Thanks a lot!
