F.I.N.D.A Probe show 1 but no filament loaded
Hi, I just finished to assemble the mmu2 and I wanted to test it.
Turn on printer, update firmware Printer MK3S and MMU2S --> no problems
then try to load filament with mk3s menu, nothing happens and all 5 led blinking red.
According to the manual it could be a problem with the selector and finda probe.
Gone to the menu --> support --> sensor --> finda = 1 (but there is no filament loaded), to be sure I checked the LED at the top of the FINDA Probe = red (if I load a piece of filament manually LED goes off, finda probe itself seems to work but the controller doesn't get the info)
And finally I can't check the selector motor if its working. Is there any possibility to force moving the selector, just to be sure the motor works fine. And the same question for the pulley motor.
(In fact why is there no selfcheck function for the mmu2s? Would be nice to be sure everything is correct assembled)
I also checked the correct order of the motors connectors on the mmu electric board
Anyone an idea where to look for a solution?
RE: F.I.N.D.A Probe show 1 but no filament loaded
The stated reason that there isn't a self test is that it can't know if there is filament in the way and a collision could cause you other problems.
If you are familiar with using the serial terminal for the printer, you can connect to it and send the T0, T1, T2, T3, and T4 commands to move the selector to the designated tool path.
RE: F.I.N.D.A Probe show 1 but no filament loaded
Thanks I saw somewhere your post about the serial terminal use. I will try this.
But till now I didn't see any mouvement of the selector, just the idler move.
Should the selector do a homing action on reboot?
And any Idea about finda probe? I thought that maybe the selector won't move because the finda detects a filament

No it only moves when loading filament. When I connected my MMU for the first time my selector wouldn't move at all until I threw the T commands at it to try to verify it functioned.

If there is no filament (including strings) and the FINDA is reporting 1, then there is a good chance you have it inserted too far.
Remove the PTFE tube and insert a piece of filament into the selector backwards. Adjust the FINDA upwards until it reports 0, then back down until it reports 1. Remove the filament and confirms that it reports 0. Insert and remove the filament a few times (wiggle and twist it too) to make sure it consistently reports 1 with filament present and 0 without it.

Yeah but see my first post. The LED on the finda works correctly (put in filament LED off, pull it out LED on), but the controller (support --> sensor) shows always 1 even if I remove de finda complety from any metalic piece.
But tomorrow I will first try to see if I could get the selector to work.
With the commands T0 T1 T2 .. should it move even if finda shows 1?
By the way thanks for your time

I think I have been having similar issues to what you describe here. Here is a link to my post https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mmu2s-mmu2-hardware-firmware-and-software-help/struggling-with-finda-and-filament-loading-on-my-mmu2s-upgrade/#post-142083
I also took a video of the problem http://www.coho.org/~pete/IMG_4384.MOV.
In my case, the FINDA sensor is clearly indicating that no filament is present yet the printer thinks it is extruding filament. It has even turned off heating to the hot end. How could it possibly be extruding filament?

Ahh. Sorry. I missed that part. I'd still try raising it up just to make sure and because it's easy. It could be tripping enough that the printer sees it, but the LED isn't tripped. I'd also double check the FINDA -> MMU connection (I expect that is correct given your description) and MMU -> Printer connection. If that all checks out, then a chat with support is probably in the cards.
If the printer thinks there is filament there, I expect it will ignore the T commands to avoid causing a jam.
RE: F.I.N.D.A Probe show 1 but no filament loaded
I had a little chat with the support and they will send me a new Finda Probe.
I keep you up to date !
Thx for your help
RE: F.I.N.D.A Probe show 1 but no filament loaded
I had similar problems and replaced teh FINDa, but the problem is still there, some moderator mentioned something about blocking finction that prevent the board from reading actualized data from teh sensor... it's quite weird this is happening during teh lfilament change, whne the FINDa is actually needed...

No, not really. During a tool change the MMU board has control. The FINDA is still working (as witnessed by its light) and reporting the state to the MMU, but the Einsy is only waiting for the tool change to complete and checking on the IR sonsor, so it cannot update the FINDA status on the LCD.
It's the Einsy reporting to the MMU to stop and return control when the IR sensor triggers. If this does not happen when expected, the MMU unloads and retries.

RE: F.I.N.D.A Probe show 1 but no filament loaded
Support->sensor state is only a way we try to understand where the issue is whne the filament change fail, the question is if the board is reading or not the FINDA change
In my case the problems was this: something failed during the load in the extruder, the MMU retracted teh filament and continued to retract it even after it was out of the pulley (so far out of the FINDA)
IT SEEMS in this phase the board is not reading the actual position of the filament in the FINDA
RE: F.I.N.D.A Probe show 1 but no filament loaded
So last update my MMU is working. I've got in touch with support and they send me a new FINDA Probe and it works like a charm. But I directly use the rewind spool instead of the prusa solution.
Thank for your help
