Which is better: Octoprint, Astroprint, or something else?

I had Octoprint running for a while on a RaspiPi 3, but it stil seemed rather slow, especially on reconnecting if I had to do a manual reset to the MK3. If something could upload files directly to the SD card on the MK3, that might be best. I guess it's theoretically possible using Octoprint, but it "streams" and seems to take a very long time to make the transfer, so it's not really practical for that it would seem.

Octoprint is pretty fast to me, but you can use FlashAir, still you need to move more -> Printer ON -> PC -> Printer Print File. With octoprint you turn on printer, sit at PC and its all done.
You can't find any better than Pi, boot time is less than a minute for me, maybe only a dedicated PC with an SSD

I got FlashAir working. FWIW, I think FlashAir is the best.

I got FlashAir working. FWIW, I think FlashAir is the best.I've got a Toshiba FlashAir card configured and working, but I've been having a lot of problems copying files over (I'm on a Mac). The copy takes a while, which isn't a huge problem, but 50% of the time, I end up with a 0 sized file on the FlashAir card. If I attempt to print it on the Mk3, I get "incomplete file" error messages. Sometimes re-copying with the same name works. Sometimes, copying the same file with a new name work. It's not consistent, and I've just about given up and am back to sneakernet.

I'm using Windows, and it's practically instant. No fails as yet, either. I print directly from the slicer into the networked SD card, and it arrives there immediately. It could not be any easier or more convenient than it is. I'm very happy with it. 😀

I'm using the AW-4 model. Are you perhaps using AW-3 or earlier? Maybe that might explain the difference you're having. If AW-4, there is a firmware upgrade. I haven't done it, but maybe that would address your issue.
