If I fit an E3D Volcano Hotend, can anyone tell me if this will this invalidate my warranty?

Looks like it will. But if you bought the kit the warranty applies to all the parts separately.
Not sure how that hotend would break the printer. I would make sure I had printed spare parts for the extruder just in case.
And I think the volcano hotend needs a firmware change to work.
