I have seen a few people question the cost of the replacment filter but i would say this, i don't have it on all the time and each time I print so when using PLA or PETG the fumes are less and the particles stay inside as i close te  enclosure door. I also run the filter at the end of the print to pick up any parts before opening the door to remove a completed print. If printing with ABS or Nylon then the filter is on all the time the print is being made.  Use common sense. Nick

It's unfortunate that science and physics aren't required courses.  The statement PLA and PETG residuals are staying inside the enclosure during printing is such an outrageous claim it speaks volumes.  The enclosure is not hermetically sealed, and isn't even air tight in any sense of the term. Air moves by convection, pressure waves, and equalization (to name a few)... to believe the air outside the cabinet isn't being contaminated is just naive.

Okay so reading this i can see the issue is the price for what you get on offer isn't cost effective, however what would be a good price for a decent enclosure. if someone in the uk built or offered an enclosure for £?, and you would buy it.

I'm sure they are actually selling quite a few to schools and other places where the public may be. The blame and claim culture in this country (UK) is one of the worst in the world, so schools etc will have to buy something like this as their liability insurers will demand it.

It may not be perfect, but if it has some sort of type approval, it's usually enough to keep the vulture claim lawyers at bay.

Normal people believe that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Engineers believe that if it ain’t broke, it doesn’t have enough features yet.

Okay so if i sell my built enclosure with fan particle removal, glass exterior with lockable door, exterior spool system and integrated filtered power distribution for under half the price of this one would people be interested?

A fair price is in the eye of the buyer.  Some buyers will always say it is too expensive.

I still would NOT buy one from you because the "claims made" will be silly.   A printer enclosure with ANY air exchange can't protect you from the printing residuals.

It's like saying a HEPA filter traps 99.9% of the air impurities. They don't, and they can't.  They only way to trap 99.9% of impurities is to trap 100% of the air.  For example, if I added hydrogen sulfide or arsene to the air inside your "enclosure", would you stand around to prove to me it really trapped 99.9% of the gases emitted inside it?  You'd be really stupid to do that, but I'd let you.

@tim-m30

so whats the point of an enclosure in the first place then? I can see what your saying just thought that this was something you had to do or helps improve your prints?

But if he can get some sort of type approval and certification stating cleaning efficiency etc etc or whatever is required, he may make some money from selling to schools, public venues etc.

Sure - but most are happy with the term HEPA, which does nothing for FDM residuals.

Nah... Barnum had it wrong. It's more like every second.
