Per Guy’s response isn’t the Midwest Nozzle not Tungsten Carbide, but rather some other kind of tungsten alloy?
curious how the 3DM one holds up to Spool3D and Dyze

The Midwest nozzle is 100% tungsten. The thermal characteristics are a bit different between tungsten and tungsten carbide. Tungsten carbide has almost identical thermal characteristics when compared to brass. Tungsten is has a bit more thermal conductivity than both Tungsten carbide and brass., but not as much conductivity as copper. 3dmakerengineering(US based) and Spool3d(Canada based) both sell tungsten carbide nozzles.

👍100% correct. I am looking for a sintered tungsten carbide (hardmetal) and not for a metal alloy. There is a difference regarding hardness and thermal conductivity. 3dmakerengineering offers what I am looking for - 0.4mm unfortunately sold out 😐 .

Not quite :). I didn’t get adequate responses on this thread so I did some following up on my own:
Midwest’s nozzle is a Tungsten alloy, per their response to a message I sent:
“The alloy is our MT-185 heavy tungsten alloy which is 97% tungsten. It is not a tungsten carbide.

Since it is not a carbide, which has the more desirable thermal characteristics, I went for the 3DM nozzle which is slightly cheaper in the US than the Spool3D one.

Looking at thermal conductivity, Midwest Tungsten Service W probably the better then some random WC and their machine shop is high tech... Hope being able to order the 0.3 from Europe in the future...

Thanks to all!
Stumbled across this thread and I really like the idea of being able to print abrasives with a nozzle that won’t wear and have similar heat properties to brass.
So ordered one from Spool3D and waited for it to arrive.
Nervously started taking the print head apart abs discovered I must have had a slow/tiny leak as the top of the heat block was caked in plastic that is never noticed. Was a real mare to get off and damaged the heat block so decided I’d get another.
Finally the part arrives and I’ve just replaced my heat block with a copper plated one from E3D along with the nozzle. The wrench for a bit hot when holding the block and torquing the nozzle to 2.5Nn but managed it and it’s now printing flawlessly!

...and I have had the best experience with this nozzle, which I use for printing all materials (especially carbon containing materials) and has also been installed on all printers for quite some time. Tungsten carbide (not element 74 tungsten) has similar thermal conductivity values as brass and is extremely wear-resistant.

Got the Dyze Design 0.4mm tungsten carbide nozzle from Voxel Factory Inc. in Montreal.
Using it with the MK3S . Just ran a routine z-adjust (just as each time I change nozzle) but did not need any other tweaking at all.
I leave it on all the time for any type of filament now.

These nozzles are manufactured very precisely and correspond to the dimensions of the E3D nozzles. I have not had to readjust the Z values after switching to this nozzle either.

I’ve been using the 3DMakerEngineering nozzles for a while now and the work perfectly, have printed a couple hundred hours of abrasives with no issues.

Being also in Europe, I got my TC nozzles from 3Dmaker Engineering in the USA. Not cheap at all, when you add shipping and Customs taxes, but I don't know of any place in Europe where to buy them.
Alternatively, you can get nozzles with a brass or copper body and TC tip at Ali-Express. There're at least a couple of vendors selling them. I'm sure they work fine and they're also cheaper than buying from North America. Speaking for myself, I'm not fond of nozzles with a tip insert, preferring those made from a single part.

Since i also live in europe and these nozzles are insanely expensive to import from the US, i decided to go for the inserted-tip-version.
I have printed alot carbon fiber with it, without any issues.
until
I got a clog...
Needle broke off inside. Bye expensive nozzle.
Since i still want to print CF, i'm currently looking for another one. For now i still have my NozzleX, but i like Tungsten so much better.
