THANK you for being backordered MK3S!

I am so happy that the MK3s was backordered and i cancelled my order! I decided to go with the Bondteck upgrade instead, and also i bought the new E3D copper plated heating block.

Bondtech also released an upgrade for the new MK3s sensor, so i will be getting my sensor from china next week, and I wont be sitting down at home while different Prusa reps tell me different delivery dates over and over.

While I was at Alliexpress, i noticed that they even have a FULL MMU2s clone even with the board!, and delivery time is 15 days. That means i can buy 2 of them ( for spare parts ) for the price i could get one at Prusa if i include shipping and import fees.

Maybe if enough people go buy from China, the people at Prusa will start respecting its clientbase and tell them the exact truth as to why certain people get their orders and certain dont even though they ordered at the same exact time.

Transparency is what is needed!

I suspect those same people will begin to appreciate the value of quality tech support and a company that will ship replacements for problem parts free of charge. I spend a lot of time on the various subreddits for 3D printing and see a lot of people having to come up with work-arounds and hacks to fix their budget printers. When most get sick of it, the general advice is that Prusas are a pain to get ahold of, but worth it for trouble-free printing. I think the old maxim of "cheap, fast, reliable. pick 2." holds. Good luck with your parts and be sure to report results back here.

This... I briefly considered an AliExpress MMU2 kit. But decided against it since as finicky as the MMU2 currently seems to be... not sure I would want to add AliExpress components with questionable QC to the mix to save a hundred bucks. Maybe once it's a lot more foolproof, but until that time...
(No, I haven't bought one yet. I have a lot more to experience with the base printer before I expand my options even more)

If you look at it logically, and print the mmu2 parts yourself, all you really need for reliability is the control board from Prusa. Thats the only loose end.
All the rest are basic parts.

Did you order the knockoff MMU2? If so please post your experiences.

Will it accept official firmware upgrades?

... actually all mechanical and electrical parts.
The thing with Aliexpress parts (beside of providing nothing in return to actual development) is that you never know what you get. You might get something usable but also a throw away part. And if someone got something usable, you might be the one with a throw away part. Wasting money and time.
Nobody will hold you off to go on the Aliexpress adventure. Please share the results.

I always giggle at the filament sensors with the 90º pins reversed. It's not a huge problem if you're good with a soldering iron, but it would still be a nuisance.

I will let you guys know when i get it. Nobody is perfect, look at the poor guy who posted that he just got his Prusa MK3s kit, and the kit shipped with 4 x rods and was missing 2 y rods... $749 + shipping + import duties, and its missing parts. Even though Prusa did ship the proper rods, the printer was in useless state for another week.

For the mmu2 kit, its just basic bearings and hardware. I self print the body, and get the board from Prusa, all the rest are simple parts that can be replaced with misumi bearings or basic hardware from anywhere. And I dont have to wait until May-June ++

Re: THANK you for being backordered MK3S!

I ordered my MK3S kit (full printer, not just the MK3 -> MK3S) on Monday 3/25 and took delivery to my home that same Friday 3/29. I can appreciate the frustration if you're getting inaccurate dates from their customer support, but 5 business days from Europe to US seems reasonable to me..

The reason I say this is because I had heard so much on the internet about how long it takes to get a Prusa that I actually considered ordering one of the Fytsec or Triangle Labs copies on AE. Would have saved me a a few hundred $$, but not sure that I'd have the same quality that I have right now 6 hours after opening the box.
