Spool Holder Modification
No offense to the MK3 printer however, I didn't like the herkie jerky movement of the filament spool while printing.
I constructed a spool holder with rollers supported on ball bearings. The filament now feeds smoothly off the spool.
RE: Spool Holder Modification
That looks really we designed. Anything that keeps the filament flowing smoothly from the spool to the extruder is good.
RE: Spool Holder Modification
Nice job - I had done something similar for my pegboard based spools. But I discovered that the bearings actually made my spools spin too easily and led to excess filament being run off if the carriage moved quickly and tugged the filament. So I actually went back to non bearing holders. Just an observation you may want to consider adding some adjustable drag to the spool if those bearings are really smooth.

My first attempt was using the spool center hole. I then realized that the center holes in the spools vary in diameter so I would have to make several inserts so I changed to my current design. Actually the first one ran too smooth and the filament would overrun.
The current one works great.

Charles,
If I can figure out how to do that....... 🙄

@rtibbetts
Just post the list of parts and files you used to print it.
