Bigger spool
i don’t have an answer for you, but I heard that the extruded doesn’t have enough muscle to turn bigger spools.
No reason to believe that is true, but I will follow this as I have the same interest. I’m looking at as big as 10# spools. I will be mounting on a 2020 framed enclosure.

Weight and friction
It's a question of friction. Definitely look at a spool holder with bearings. I'd get that weight off the top of the frame in any case.

orginal spool holder is for 2 spools, thats about 2,1 kilo,so i think it will not be a problem with a 2,3 kilo spool

More weight on one side with no bearing is likely to increase friction, but do what you want.

It looks like a very good design, I'm printing one now.
