Running a heated enclosure in a garage in Scotland
I am really enjoying 3D printing in my relatively short time involved with it.
Currently running (or I was before selling it) a 3d printer from my living room as we have an extension that we spend most if our time in, my MK3s will be in the living room when it arrives.
However, 3d printers in a living room is not really practical long term, I plan to probably purchase another at some point so then it starts to become more of an issue.
I saw this post for a heated enclosure that very much interests me (Thanks for sharing Rick), and wondered if anyone reliably runs something like this in a wildly fluctuating environment like a garage?
Tank you very much!
RE: Running a heated enclosure in a garage in Scotland
I have an enclosure from these guys: https://www.3dupfitters.com/. It works really well but the temperature in the room definitely affects the temperature in the enclosure. It can only raise the temperature a certain amount above the temperature in the room. To maintain a high temperature in an enclosure in a cold garage you really should have a printer with a heated build chamber. Fortunately for you that patent expired last week. So you should see some options appearing for you soon. How this will work in the summer with a hot garage, I don't know. The best is to have a stable temperature in the room through out the year so you don't have to make adjustments to your settings. But this is rarely an option for a lot of us.
