Raspeberry Pi Zero W not connecting

Hi,

I've set up my Prusa is Mk3S and was keen to connect a Raspberry Pi as I've had good experience with using it with an Ender 2. I bought the Zero W, given the printer is designed to incorporate it, have got a 32GB Sandisk microSD onto which I flashed the PrusaPrint image, edited the octopi-wpa-supplicant.txt file with my network information and soldered the pins in the correct places. When I place it into the printer, it powers up but I can't find the IP address for it. Tried deleting and repeat flashing the PrusaPrint image to not effect.

Anyone else had this issue? Could it be a fault with the Raspberry Pi or am I missing something obvious?

Thanks in advance

I'm afraid you started with some old info (the bane of the Internet). The Zero is not recommended by the Octoprint developer. It is far too underpowered. You can do what you like, of courses, but starting with a RPi 3b will provide a far better result.

That's a very useful answer...
I had it working (as written, if you don't need webcam or plugins it will be fine) a couple of days ago.

It has now stopped working and I can't get it going again.

I would check the the RPI port enable setting to see if the RPI port is still enabled.

@bruce-p4

I did. I even went as far as resetting the whole lot.
I can connect to it but not the printer.

Just checking, did you reset all of the Raspberry pi configuration or all of the Prusa Mk3 Configuration, or all of both?

the Prusa Mk3 has an LCD Menu option that toggles the serial control of the printer, between the Raspi W0 port and the normal printer USB Port.

If you have the printer set up to use the USB Port, then the RasPi W0 will not be  able to communicate with the printer...

Note !   If you later use a RasPi 3B+ then you will probably need to communicate via USB

@joantabb I reset the pi zero w. For the sake of being sure, I tried both rpi settings. No dice.

@rt_10_viper

Guess we need input from a RasPi expert!

Good Luck!

I was having the same issue.  I removed the Raspberry Pi Zero W from my printer, plugged it into my laptop, then used AdaFruit's Pi Finder to connect to the device.  Pi Finder allowed me to fix my network issue and get an IP address on the Pi Zero W.

I doubt I even needed to remove the Pi from the printer or plug it into my laptop.
