Put a rpi 3 or 4 where the zero should be

What prevents this? Physical size? Missing headers? Electrical incompatibility? Power requirements?

made this build. have an b3+. you need to jumpp-wire this, because there is no place to do this back-piggy like the zero.

also it needs an external power supply in my case, directly over the einsy it was slight unstable. if you do so, its better to not connect the power lines to the einsy, because otherwise when you turn first the b+ on, it will partitial power on the mainboeard and display of the prusa. if it boots up later normaly by its own power supply, there are some errors until you restart the printer.

B+ works waaaaaaayyyyy better than the zero. would never use the zero again on it.

@pingu

Do you have a picture?  Any diagrams?  I have ordered a pi 4 and was planning to connect it via USB, but if its possible to connect it via a ribbon cable to the Einsy I would love to see a diagram if you have one.

I would also like to see a pic of the setup. I plan on using a Pi 4 to run octiprint when I get my printer.

Start with power requirements. Einsy can not source that much. Then A regular Pi will not fit in the Einsy case extension.

Then you get to GPIO anomalies.

Just give your Pi a proper power supply, a nice case and fan,  and use the USB port. Reliability will be far better.

I got my pi4 and an pi camera. I couldn’t get the raspberry cam to work so I plugged in an existing Logitech cam into the USB port on the pi. Instant video through octoprint! So I stripped off the parts of the cam base and hooked it up to the articulating arm. I’ll post a pic soon.
articulating arm

My next problem is that none of the octoprint apps for iPhone seem to be designed to work when not connected to the same WiFi.  AstroPrint does, but doesn’t have video feed. I’m still looking...

I should mention that the pi4 is very fast!

Pi 4 is very fast - but it really needs a fan and heat sinks. There are Pi cases for the MK3S that accommodate both.

(Pi 4 is a bit of overkill - but use what you have...)

https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3s-mk3-others-archive/connecting-raspberry-pi-3-to-einsy-headers/paged/2/ has the case & wiring diagram I used for my Pi3. Used an external buck boost converter running off the 24v to get the 5v to run the Pi as mine was having issues off the limited line the Pi W is suppose to tap into.
