Powering Octopi 3b+ off of MK3 PSU

Hi All,

I'm awaiting arrival of my MK3S, have searched here, YouTube, Thingiverse and all-up internet, and my search skills seem to be lacking. All I'm looking to find out is how to power a Raspberry Pi 3B+ off of the i3 MK3 power supply. I've seen posts that speak a little about that but I'm missing a more definitive guide that points out where the connections are made / what type of cable is needed, etc.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

This approach is not recommended. That's why you can't find nice ready to go solutions/guides.
If this isn't a must for your purpose I would suggest to avoid this setup.

I've toyed with this idea, but probably only after upgrading to a higher wattage meanwell power supply. I have the meanwell, but am stuck in an "if it aint broke don't fix it" mentality. I would then use a DC-DC buck converter to step the 24V down to 5V for the pi.

Really though, it's not a big deal to just power the pi from an external power supply, and powering the pi externally has the added benefit that you can shut off your printer without shutting down the pi.

Got it. Definitely not a must on my end; I'll let it be. Thanks for the responses!
