Performance difference? Pi0 to Pi4 upgrade, USB or GPIO/Einsy interface

hi all

i have a mk3S+ and have been running octopi/octoprint on a Pi0 for the last few months, quite frankly im not happy with the performance of the 0 so im upgrading it to a Pi4b 4gb

TLDR: is there a performance difference between using a usb2.0 cable or the GPIO/Einsy connection?

I am after best possible performance, dont care which option, have ability for both

The long bit...

I have spent the last few hours down a hole of how to interface with the printer, it seems the easy way is just to connect the Pi4 via usb cable to the usb port on the printer, BUT it has been sugested that there is a small lag especially in complex prints when using usb, (owing to the overheads usb required) On the other hand there have been posts saying its possible to do the "3 wire" connection from GPIO to Einsy which is a bit more complex to get running , aparently

There are no explanations on what is better or what has better performance.

this is solely a performance question, i will be powering the Pi4 via an official RPiPSU (5v3a) and i allready have the pi0 connected to a remote Einsy connection (using long pin jumpers on long wires and some mounts) so I should just be able to attach that pre made mount to the Pi4 and just not attach the 5v positive lead to make the 3pin setup work, given that all gpio pins are backwards compatible,  this should be easy ofcorse i can also just attach the usb cable equally as easily

So which is it? What is better/faster in terms of performance?

Are there any problems with using one or the other?

Have i missed something?

Looking forward to hearing what you have to say on the matter

Cheers
