Official 3D printer enclosure from Prusa Research

Prusa just put up this video on youtube:

I'm thinking about setting this up as it looks pretty nice.

Just wanted to post this here so people don't miss it.

Does anyone know if this will still work with a bed mounted camera? I just ordered stuff to set-up Octoprint with a webcam and I'd hate to build this and find out it won't fit without propping the door open.

Seriously considered racing to Ikea yesterday as I'm fed up with my printer dusting up. However, today I wonder how badly the stacked Lack tables will shake, especially with the topics on vibrations and print quality going on. Also wondering if the multimaterial unit will fit.

Seriously in doubt now... Not really worried about the cost of trying but rather suffering a million people things at Ikea sabotaging my usual shopping efficiency.

Vibration can be eliminated either by using the paver as others have posted or using the second (base) lack table top on an existing desk under the printer without the lack legs. The extra lack legs can then be used to double the height over the printer for MMU.

Where is a good source for Plexiglas in the US? (or a reasonable alternative?)
The usual hardware stores seem comically overpriced.

TAP Plastic: https://www.tapplastics.com/

They will cut the Plexiglas to size and seem to have better prices than the big box stores.

I'm not convinced you'll resolve a vibrating base by putting it on a concrete slab. You'll be restricted by the Lack table load bearing capability as well with a maximum load of 25kg (including printer and filament spools). I guess I'll find out as for 5 GBP a piece I'll buy 3 of them anyway and report back. Otherwise I'll glue the bottom locators to my current Ikea desk and permanently use that as my 'makerdesk' or something. Really like your thinking with the extra table legs!

Acrylic ordered. Hoping the 1kg spools Prusa Orange PETG come back in stock soon as that orange just looks brilliant with the black.

I agree with paver and lack weights. I recommended having the lack table top flat on a desk, no lack legs underneath. The paver would sit on that. I think that would work. I have it on my desk and don't notice vibrations.

Hoping for the Prusa Orange as well, I tried Matter Hackers, but it is more brown than orange. Hatchbox is out of stock on Amazon.

Re: Official 3D printer enclosure from Prusa Research

I already have a work bench I built for my mk3 using 2x4 and 3/4in ply. Can hold the printer, paver brick, myself, and my wife at the same time without so much as a wiggle.

So I'm just going to build the top half of this enclosure, then just sit it over the printer on the already made work bench. I have designed an enclosure using extruded t-slot aluminum due to fire safety concerns, but if Prusa says placing it under a Lack is safe, it will save me a ton of money.

I’m not all that much of a constructor, so this is a bit inelegant when seen close up, but it was quick to make. Two Lack tables, 4 pieces of angle steel, plexiglass door, grotesquely over engineered hinges, magnetic latch and of course printed door handle and adjustable spool roller.led strip inside roof.

Retired doc, should have been an engineer.

I found one that's quite close. I ordered 2 spools of it on a whim just based on the picture in the online store and when it arrived I was surprised at how close it was. About the only difference is that it looks a tiny bit milkier than the Prusa orange PETG. All in all, I'm OK with any slight difference given the fact that it was not only in stock, but cheaper considering I didn't have to pay through the nose for shipping or any currency exchange (I'm Canadian so USD$ costs us a bunch extra).

The site is Canadian (prices are in CAD$) but they deliver to the US, not sure about internationally.

I haven't actually printed anything with it yet, so I can't say how it handles or what it looks like as a solid piece. I'll be doing that within the next few days.

I put one of the unopened spools up against my MK3 and took a picture to show how close of a match this is.

The frame brace only fits MK3.

Found this at Thingiverse for the MK2

Thanks for posting that link. I wondered where is USA I was gonna order from. However even the 3 side panels where around $49.

3 Cast Acrylic Clear (Cut-to-Size) - Clear 1/8 (.118)" Thick, 18" Wide, 18" Long $16.54 x 3 = $49.62

Not to mention the door panels. But they sell alot of plastic, I probably choose expensive one. Which type of plastic do u recommend from their site?

Prusa MK3 preassembled (R2/B6) > (R3/B/7)
Prusa MK2.5 kit > MK3 > MK3+MMU2 (R3/B/7) 😀

Hey, they copied my brace. 😉 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2772947

I like their enclosure but I’d never stack the tables. Too unstable. Also, it would be >> $60 just for the acrylic panels where I live. I like the right angle bed connector. May do that independently.

Oh, and ikea shipping starts at $30. Probably cheaper to just buy the wood, though the leg dimensions are probably not std.

Take a look locally, I found a company close to me and for all of the panels cut to size it was $43 and they had them cut the next day (actually about to go pick them up)

Re: Official 3D printer enclosure from Prusa Research

Bought 3 Lack tables today. First impression after assembling one was 'oh dear, that's quite wobbly' Will probably add some stiffening to the bottom table which shouldn't be too difficult. Likely won't be stacking all 3 even though the printer is lower now that I'd like. Will have one table to spare but I did find out they're at the perfect height to rest my feet on while watching the printer so that's a bonus

Acrylics will arrive next Tuesday. Added some matte black acrylic for the rear instead of the clear. Only selected the doors to have polished edges as it added quite a bit to the total cost.

Started making some of the parts out of my black NGen PETG. Waiting for the 2kg spool of Prusa orange to be shipped so I can finish with the cabinet connector parts etc. May redesign some parts in the meantime as I find some of them way overkill. That PSU holder bracket is huuuge.

Looking forward to finish that awesome orange/black cabinet and adding ABS capability.

I ordered three of the Lack tables and the shipping was $9
